Smile Pleased with results

I just spent a week helping a family member who fell and broke her arm in several places. I was really concerned about my eating because I have gained weight during several similar episodes. I did not have access to my normal foods, did not have my food scale, my routine was off, it brought back memories of caring for my father while he was dieing, etc... I thought the best that I could hope for was to not be derailed again.

I am back home and weighed this morning. To my surprise, I was down a pound! I have some of the swelling that I normally have when traveling, so I expect to be down another pound or two after that is gone.

I am relieved and excited. I had been reading Gary Taubes' book "Why We Get Fat: And What to Do About It" and decided to follow his principles while gone in the hope that I would not gain. Basically, I avoided carbohydrate-rich foods such as bread, pasta, potatoes, and sweets.

I have been eating a lower carb diet for a couple of months now. I have been keeping my carbs at 150 or lower. Since this past week went so well, I am going to experiment with lowering the carbs more. I think that I will stay at 100 carbs or below this week to see what happens.

Thanks for listening!

Way to go!!!

You have learned a lot so far on your journey, knowing how to keep the momentum going during a stressful, out of the norm kinda time is one of the hardest things to learn.

Hope your family member is doing better and heals well.
