From cycling to surgery in half an hour
Wow...life throws you these little curves, doesn't it? On Thursday I had a normal day of work, came home, cycled for exercise, and ate a little dinner. Half an hour later I was in acute abdominal pain, that night I was in the ER, and today I am in the hospital recovering from gall bladder surgery. I have another procedure to look forward to in the next few days, too.
So, think happy thoughts for me - I'm feeling almost human at the moment, given painkillers and a toothbrush - but I don't know if I'll be posting a lot or almost not at all over the next week or so. cheers - calluna |

You poor thing!
My boyfriend had gall bladder surgery (not emergency but we did go to the emergency room when he thought he was having a heart attack). His mother had emergency surgery when she was about his age. Apparently it can run in the family! Another interesting factoid the Ohio Valley has one of the highest rates of gall bladder issues! Some people think it might be linked to the mineral content in the water. I hope you have a quick recovery! Lots of hugs! |
Get well soon!

Sorry you had to go through that...but I'm glad you found out about it now instead of suffering several painful attacks before getting it yanked out. I never had gallbladder problems that I could pinpoint, but my doctor noticed my liver levels were off last year and wanted an ultrasound to check my gallbladder b/c he thought that was what was affecting my liver. Sure enough, it was full of gallstones. I think I was luckier than you, though, b/c I had it done laproscopically and was home by 2 PM that day.
Best wishes for a quick recovery!!! |
Yikes!
Get better soon! |
