I have several August NSVs.
1- This weekend I helped give a bridal shower for a friend's daughter. Friday I was at Sam's Club shopping for the food. I was tired and hungry, not a good combination for shopping. I wanted food. I was so happy when I realized that the fruit was calling me. I was drooling over the fruit, wanting to dig in. In my cart there were cheeses, crackers, creme puffs, and other sweets. They had the sample people giving out all types of goodies and what did I want? I wanted fruit! It was so good to see that my actual desires have actually changed. 2 - With the shower, I was around all types of temptations and I did just fine. I planned what I would eat and stuck to plan. There was a good bit of food left over and I sent everything but the fruit home with other people. 3- I got many compliments at the shower from people who have not seen me in awhile. It felt great! 4 - I resisted the temptation to tell everyone how many calories were in each dish. Well, mostly...... there was one person there who is carefully following a food plan also, so I told her. However, she wanted to know so I was not being the obnoxious diet person. :) |
I went to Applebee's with my friends on Saturday night, but since I had eaten dinner already, I didn't order anything. I also politely refused their offers of onion rings, cheese sticks, and barbecue wings.
Has anyone noticed a change in their sense of smell? Ever since I've started eating healthier and not devouring everything I see, I feel more sensitive to food smells. I've noticed it the past couple times I've gone to dinner with my friends and I don't need to order anything. Their food comes out and I find the smells so powerful! Maybe it's psychological. |
