Wink Dog show food...

SUCKS!!!! I was at a big three day show this weekend and packed all of my own snacks etc as usual... but for giggles I went and checked out the menu at the food truck.

NOT A SINGLE HEATHFUL THING.

They had chicken "wraps" on white tortilla's with melted cheese, bacon and RANCH dressing. The only thing healthful was the chicken. lol!

So I had a popsicle one day and indulged in greasy onion rings another day. I still came out of the weekend down a pound (I'm practicing maintenance for the summer) so it was good.

Showing dogs 4 times a day for three days in the HEAT AND SUN will make you lose weight.

Oh and my girl I was showing? Got 5 group placements which puts her at the #17 collie in Canada right now So totally worth it!

How great for your girl! I used to show dogs, the ones my mom bred, and yes - there is no healthy food in sight!

When I read the title I thought you were talking about dog food. lol

Congrats for having the # 17th collie in Canada!! I'm lucky to even get my doxie to sit much less perform in a show.

And sometimes the onion rings are worth it, but these days if I happen to have an onion ring it better darn well be a fresh sweet beer battered onion ring & none of that frozen prebreaded mess.

I love that you're practicing maintenance...but I miss YOU. Come see us now and then! (Oh, like now... )

I can't imagine going to a dog show in the heat.

I usually check in once a day but it's a whole different ball game for me right now and it feels... weird. Like I SHOULDN'T be practicing maintenance... like I should be doing everything in the world to get these stubborn pounds to budge. It's strange. I still don't know if I like it.

I'm off to do a blog post and put up some candids of me and my girl

And people wonder why Americans are obese.

Congratulations -- on the dog placement I mean.

But I'll also extend congrats on being prepared food-wise.

Greta pictures! She's a lovely girl. I especially love her coat! I come form the working dog world and so many show line collies have such impractical coats. I get the whole fluff 'em up and make them pretty but at the end of the day the collie is supposed to be a working dog and most showline collies have waaay too much coat. Your Bella is beautiful!

My Bella comes from Lick Creek lines which have healthy and practicality. She has a LOVELY fitted coat of proper texture which is rare to find. She blew her puppy coat in February so she's JUST getting it back. She should have lovely coat for the specialty in November

And congratulations on practicing maintenance. Look at it this way, when you get to your goal weight, you know you can do maintenance!

Try not to think about it and feel good about what you're doing. I have a feeling that once you take yourself out of maintenance those pounds are going to drop. DH has been...we'll say "practicing maintenance" ...and now that he's decided to lose again, the pounds are dropping off him with relative ease...the ease of a newbie. I admire what you are doing. Not everyone has the strength. Well that's not true. We all have the strength and ability, let us not forget that. But not all of us have that special something that gets us through.
