Welcome!!! I'm so glad that you're here.
That's how I broke down my weight loss - 10 lbs at a time. So, tell us, how are you going about doing this? What's your plan? I look forward to knowing you better and hearing of your success. :) |
My plan:
I have been walking 4 miles everyday, from my home to the park track that's two miles each way. Yes, I have the Shake Weight and I do it for 10 minutes everyday! LOL besides that my brother gave me P90X and I tried it once. Will try it again tomorrow. Also, I have about 40 fitness dvd's, a treadmill, stationary bike, a cruiser bike, the Firm Wave, the Transfirmer, handweights, kettle bells, medicine ball, pilates bands, stability balls, yoga mats, weighted balls, and most important TWO LEGS and TWO ARMS. (I collect fitness stuff and don't use it) Lots of stomach fat and a desire to finally change my life and be HAPPY, HAPPY! |
All that exercise sounds great, but what's the plan for the food, what will you be EATING day in and day out? Because according to many, and I for one am in total agreement, that losing weight (and maintaining it) is 80% FOOD/20 % exercise. So the food part is REALLY, REALLY the essential thing here and where some MAJOR focus will be needed. So do you have a food plan in mind?

I have no idea about food, I'm going to count calories and try to keep under 1200 calories a day.
My sister gave me some books, one is the Eat clean Diet, and the Biggest Loser series of books. I have to read through them and see what I can take out. |

In fact not only do I have an idea my food, I know EXACTLY what I'm eating for each and every meal and snack IN ADVANCE. Eating healthy doesn't happen on it's own. It won't happen by chance, you can't wing it, it's got to be thoroughly thought out, and prepared for ahead of time. You've got to have a plan in place and the right foods in place - always. Set yourself up for success. MAKE this happen. I think at your start weight, you can definitely have more than 1200 calories and still see a nice loss. You learn this through trial and error. Check out fitday.com or one of the other many calorie counting websites to start learning calorie counts and logging your foods. I would experiment though with a higher number of calories - anywhere from 1400 - 1600. But really, you've got to get some sort of food plan going. I not only knew what I was going to eat, but I made rules about what I wasn't going to eat. I needed to ban all the foods that I craved and overate the most - the sugar, the flour-y, stuff, rice, pasta, fried foods, candy, and so on. I had a real hard time stopping with a moderate amount of that stuff - my solution was not to start. Problem solved. 165 pounds of excess fat gone. So though you're counting calories, you want to be sure that they're good nutritious calories (not junk) that you get through good wholesome foods - foods that will stave off the cravings for the bad stuff, keep you totally and completely satisfied (not hungry), yet taste really good. Lots of low fat proteins (chicken and turkey breast, fish, egg whites), tons of fiber rich veggies and some fruits, low and no fat dairy products and whole grains. |
GOod Luck and visiting this site everyday will help u with ur weight loss. And everything that RockinRobin said is true.
|
Wow, thanks RockinRobin! that puts things into perspective. I'm already struggling with the food and it's only Monday! I have to get rid of all the crappy food in this house and make sure it's out!
I'm stressing over the cookies in the cupboard!!!!! ugh |
Welcome to 3fc's Jayee! Definitely get rid of the junky foods in your house; you can't eat what's not there.
I would think about starting out at higher than 1200 calories. There's plenty of time to lower it as time goes by if you need to. |
howdy, neighbor (Queens)!
yep, for me adjusting to a new food regime is a bigger challenge in the beginning, then I get more used to it, and tinker around and find stuff I like. it does help me to keep temptation out of the apartment entirely (like potato chips and ice cream). I've done weight watchers and jenny craig, and basically used their eating programs on my own. |
