HUGE kid NSV
Sometimes I just don't realize how much I've changed in the last year.
I live at the top of a long very steep cul-de-sac. It's the only place suitable to walk where I live, but I rarely walk down it, because then I have to walk back up.... about a year ago, I took that walk with my mom, who is in her seventies, and my youngest in the stroller. I was horrified to find that I was so winded walking back up that I had to stop half-way up. My mom, in her seventies, who had a heart attack about fifteen years ago, was fine and had no trouble walking up the hill.
Fast forward to today. My hubby wanted to walk with dog and five year old down to the cul de sac and asked me to come. I said okay. About half way down the hill, kid was tired and so my husband started carrying him. But when we started walking up, he put our kid down and asked him to walk because his shoulders were getting tired. So, my kid said "mommy can carry me..." and I said, "no, I can't. I'm not strong enough to carry you up the hill." But I picked him up and started walking up the hill. About half way up the hill, I suddenly realized that I was perfectly able to carry him up the hill. No problem! He is five and weighs about 42 lbs!
It just amazes me that consistently underestimate what I'm able to do.
