The only way I was able to stop binge eating and get control of myself was to stop eating junk. It was very hard but so worth it. Welcome! You are in good company.

I can't have "cheat days" because they turn into "cheat months." My attitude is now that I am embarking on a new lifestyle where I do not overeat/binge. I focus strictly on calories right now and trying to make as many of those calories protein as I can. I use Fitday to track - my goal is to be under 50% carbs each day. I make it about half the time so far, but I stay within my allowed calories and I eat what I want as long as it is in my calories and is a normal serving. I am not going to deceive myself and eat 1700 calories of cheesecake and call it a day. I am eating 3 meals and appropriate snacks to keep my blood sugar steady. I am almost at the end of week 3 and this morning my blood sugar was 139 - my lowest of the three weeks. For months it has been 200-250 every morning and that scared me. So, no cheat days, but I don't deprive myself. Funny thing though, I don't jones over the sugar and carbs like I used to so it is a lot easier to say no now!!

You all have a great suggestions! Thanks! Today was my first day and i did pretty good. The hardest time for me is at night because i am not active. If i can get through the first 3 weeks i know i will be able to do it. I say 3 weeks because usually sometime during the 2nd week my cravings are horrible and i give in.

I think it really depends on your personality.

I count calories but also do a protein focused plan. However, I have found that I have an easier time saying no to things when I tell myself - you can have it on Sunday if you want it. For alot of things by the time I get to sunday, I don't want it. Sometimes I do and I have a little extra. It makes me really ready to start monday fresh and on plan.

I know this is different that most people but I've been doing this for 5 weeks and its really working for me.
