I love anything by Fredericks of Hollywood. I have a smallish ribcage so I wear a 34F. It's hard to find that size ANYWHERE, but Fredericks has it!!! They have pretty, pretty stuff too.

Thank you!!!!! What I'm looking for is a really supportive 44dd (how emabarassing and sad:().

I'm going to check out the most frequently mentioned brands, and probably go with the cheapest. I think you all are right it would be a waste to spend money on something that will hopefully be too large for me very soon (hopefully).

Thanks!

great post.
I too am in desperate need of a supportive bra. I feel like I find one I like, wear it once and then it loses support. The real issue for me is finding one that doesn't cost a ton of money.

That's not sad! FTR, I went into my professional fitting wearing a 44 DDD, and left with a 40 H. The best advice I got from the fitter was to ignore the "measure under the breasts and add 4in" to get the band size advice that you read. She measured under my breasts and started trying them on at that size. I was just over 40 inches there and ended up with a 40 band size. She also recommends that you ignore the advice to buy a bra with a band that fits comfortably on the middle setting, especially if you're losing weight. She recommended getting one that fit very snuggly on loosest setting, because bands stretch out over time, and the support for the breast comes from the band, not the straps. I left in a bra that was almost uncomfortably tight on the band, but it felt fine in a couple of days. 2 and a half months later, I'm on the tightest setting and it doesn't feel as snug as it should. When the band isn't snug enough, the boobs sag more.

I feel like VS bras get flimsy so fast, they seem to wear out. But that might also be because I tend to overwash them?

I feel like Fredericks of Hollywood offers amazing lift and these bras last forever!!!!

Another wacoal fan. I buy irregulars from ebay. I haven't had any problems with them and they are so much cheaper.

I love front clasp bras. They are much more comfortable to me. I also like an underwire for extra support and also veeery lightly padded bra's. Just regular fabric looks so frumpy to me. 38D here.

I bought one of the kmart brand bra's pink k I think it's called, $5.99 it's comfortable, supportive, and girly, but still has nice coverage. I'd also have to suggest any of the just my size bras, there are tons of different styles, with underwire and without. Some of them even have the comfort straps so they don't dig into your shoulders. You can almost always find them on sale at k mart or walmart.

Amen, amen, and amen!

I had a gal at JCP ('trained') who kept trying to get me into a 42DD. Ummmm I think there is something wrong when your boob falls out from underneat the band. I think because some stores don't carry 'the unusual' sizes they just do their best to get you into what they do carry in stock. She kept trying to tell me that I should be able to put my hand under band and that would ensure I had the correct band size. Uh, huh, sure. That just meant for sure that the band was way too big and that is where you get the support.

My fave are my Cacique sports bras.

AngelicLyna 05-05-2010 12:59 PM

My favorite bra for a great lift is by Fredericks of Hollywood, "Exxtreme cleavage" but I have small breasts for a big girl, I need that miracle bra to even me out lol.

I LOVE my Cacique Back Smoothing Bra.... fits awesome... so comfy... doesn't dig into my back--- it actually lays in a different place on your back so you don't get those weird bulges and lines... and great support (I'm quite busty!)

Matilda08 05-05-2010 01:09 PM

Lane bryants t shirt bra......so comfy and feels sort of like a sports bra

synger 05-05-2010 01:54 PM

My new favorite is an "Active" bra by Just My Size. it's like a sports bra, only it fastens in the back. Very smooth and very supportive.. .and it doesn't slide down my shoulders.
