Good Luck! The last time I flew, I was around 260 pounds. It was a semi-tight fit, but I didn't need an extender or anything.

I know how you feel completely!
I just flew to Colorado at the beginning of March and was TERRIFIED! Most Airline seats are 17 inches, I went so far as to measure how much space my butt and hips took up on a chair, and then compaired it to the 17inches. I was 4 inches over! The day before my trip, I broke down and bought the extra seat just so I wasn't embarassed. When I got to the gate, the gate agents looked at me and laughed, and said oh hunny, you so do NOT need an extra seat. I was 310 pounds at the time. The seatbelt going to Colorado wouldn't latch, but I just hid that fact. On the way home, I had two seperate flights, and I had extra room in the seat belts. If you are worried about the seatbelt not fitting, you can buy your own extender for about $30. Although, Im not sure if there are different kinds for each airline, so that would be something to check out. I know for southwest, you can buy the extra seat, and if the flight isn't full, you will get refund for the seat. Also, you will pay the same price for the extra seat as you did for your ticket. I only did one way, you don't have to buy a round trip extra seat. Im sure you will be fine, but, there are options to help you feel better if you need them. Have a great trip!! |

Have a good trip. I think it's Southwest that has strict rule about weight and seats. The plane ride is a means to an end. At my highest weight I took a trip to Hawaii - the eight hours of flying time stunk...... But, once I got to paradise it was forgotten. |
