The smallest part (higher up) is the traditional waist measurement. It's what you'll see on size charts and patterns, with their little drawings of women with tape measures around the bust, waist and hips.
But for a health measure, the belly button (or similar landmarks) are used. Different organizations use different definitions, but the belly button is the easiest approximation. Easier, for example, than "halfway between the lowest rib and the iliac crest." |
plus my belly button has drifted at least 1.5 inches "south" due to massive stretch marks due to pregnancy...I wonder how they would deal with that.

If I measure where I bend, and pull the tape VERY tight, I'm at 31 inches! If I measure at my belly button...I'm at 35 inches when I pull it tight. If it IS where your belly button is, I'm only an inch over the "healthy" measurement I guess...if it's where you bend at, then I'm already healthy!
Either way, that's very exciting =D |
