So, I have close friend. She has been really supportive about the weight loss and asks me how I do it. I think of her as being very slightly overweight, but no major weight problem.

She calls me a couple of nights ago and tells me that she has bought some black pants at a thrift store and they are too wide for her, but she thinks they would fit me-- would I like them?

So, I was thinking, well, I'm not as wide as I used to be--- maybe if they're too big for you, they'll be too big for me... but then I thought-- no she probably sees me that way I really am so the pants will probably fit.

She drops off the pants, and... sigh... the wide pants fit like a glove. I think, oh well, I guess I'm still wide.

But then, later that evening, she calls back, all embarrassed-- telling me that she is so sorry that she dropped off the wrong pants-- instead of the wide pants, she dropped off the ones that fit her!

Guess I can't wear her cast-off wide pants after all!

the funny thing is that after I tried on the pants, I told my DD "oh poor me, the "wide pants fit perfectly..." LOL, and my DD took the phone call from my friend...

I said, "did you tell her that the smaller pants fit me perfectly?" and she said "I didn't think that would be tactful mom..."

I won't say a word, because my friend has been going through a lot lately and I know the pants offer was an offer of kindness, but I still got a lot of secret enjoyment.
