Default They're ragging on my brother!

Ok, this is a totally dumb NSV, but here goes...

Middle child, only girl, two brothers.

I was always "the fat one." Very little obesity in my family--somebody gains fifteen or twenty pounds it gets noticed and commented on, big time.

Nobody in my family ever morbidly obese, except me. Talk about an outlier. Ugh.

Well, my mom has told me three times in the last week that my brother has "gained tons of weight" "has a huge belly" and "looks like he's insulin resistant."

I feel bad for my brother, who probably needs to clean up his diet and get more exercise, but I also realized that for the first time in 40 years,

I'M NOT THE FAT ONE.

LOL! I actually get this!

My brother is about 5'9" (got the short genes) and never weighed more than 118 soaking wet. He tried to get out of aerobics when he was conditioning for the police academy because he was trying to gain weight, not lose it. It didn't work. I was always, always heavier than him.

...and I still am. BUT, I have hope now as his gut keeps growing while mine shrinks.

I get this SO MUCH. I'm no longer the fat one!!! I'm smaller than my dad, sister, grandma... it makes me happy. My mom however is freaking out because I'm only about 15 pounds heavier... lol!

(lol)That is great we should all live long enough to be thinner than those who have never been fat.

Oh my, I know exactly what you mean! I want my siblings to be healthy, I just want to be healthy as well!

I have lost weight while my brother has gained it - as much as I don't want to revel in his problems, it is pretty vindicating to have a guy who was so hard on ME about my weight be struggling with it, himself. I will cherish the day when I am in obviously better shape than him

Thanks guys! Only you all could possibly understand.

It's not really about my brother-- it's about my mom and dad sharing their fat worries about my brother with their "skinny" daughter.

I completely understand how you feel. It's so nice not to feel like the black sheep of the family.
