I had the same problem after having mine removed. I even discussed it with my surgeon before hand because my sister, my mother and my SIL all had theirs removed before me and had issues. I was told that doesn't usually happen. Man was he wrong! Eventually I don't have the same issue - it took a good 5 years though.

I'm really hoping things are going better for you soon. Being constipated is the absolute worst!

Worst case scenario, try an enema or suppository. Unpleasant but it should work.

Good luck.

I swear by Smooth Move! (Of course since I had my gallbladder out, I don't need it...)

Well no huge movement yet... but a small one. I went to my doctor this morning (for a blood test to check all my nutritional levels as well as diabetes etc... I get this done every quarter) and he suggested Metamucil and flax seed. So I picked up some orange flavoured Metamucil and a giant bag of ground flax. We'll give it a try! He suggest a fleet enema and some suppositories if things don't get "moving". He also suggest that a couple days a week I go HIGHER healthy fats... like 35-40% of my diet and that might help. I have a fairly low fat diet and that's making things worse.

So there's help on the horizon!

I'm glad you talked to your doctor today.

Here's hoping for a big whoosh of another kind.... ;)

Another suggestion for very palatable fiber is Benefiber, which stirs into drinks and food like sugar/salt but is tasteless and odorless. Buy cheaply in large container at Costco.
