Jay41, they might not say anything to your face, but you would probably be amazed at what they say when you leave the room. More than once, I've walked out of a room and then heard the people talking about how much weight I've lost. That's ok, because I never know what to say when someone mentions my weight loss anyway. Usually after tripping over my tongue for awhile, I thank them for noticing.

One thing I've noticed is that people compliment your clothes when they want to mention your weight loss but feel awkward about it. I mentally count every "nice shirt" as "you've lost weight!"

Congrats on the compliments.

Moms mean well I just think they don't realize how things sound at times.

The last time I lost some serious weight I had just got down to a size 16 for the first time in about 15 years and I had actually bought a dress (which I never wear) and I could zip it up without "sucking in" the zipper just slid up I was so proud then I meet with my Mom and she says " Why are you wearing that you are to big to be wearing a dress" I could have killed her not a word about the fact that I had lost nearly 50 pounds. I went in a downhill spiral from that point and ended up gaining it all back plus some.

I will not let her or anyone else make me feel bad like that again.

Val I'm so very sorry that happened to you!! I would have died if my mom said something like that to me! Thankfully my mother is one of my best friends! She lives 300 miles from me and I haven't seen her since September. She's coming to visit in 2 weeks and I'm VERY excited. We're doing a little weight loss competition that started in December, so this will be her first time seeing me a size 16! What I'm really Nervous/Excited about is going home in may for my birthday. My grandfather has always been very critical of me. He'd often say things like "You're getting a double chin like your mom", "packed on a few here" (after a hug patting my tummy), "you sure you want to eat that". I had a VERY hard life growing up. I was always the fattest person in my family. That's right, not grandchild or child but PERSON! In May they will see me for the first time since my weight loss journey started. Will they notice?
