Percentages

I was inspired by cfmama's post to do my own maths:

I've lost
21% of my startweight.
42% of the amount I want to lose.

Hm, this is helpful. I'm pleased to know that I'm less than 4/5 of the woman I used to be. On the other hand, it's quite eye-opening to realize that, after all the fannying around I've done since July, I'm not even half way there, and I could have been a lot further on. Good lesson.

Also - once I start doing geeky stats I know I'm getting into the groove again.

Rainbow 11-23-2009 03:35 AM

Well done :) I'm sure I could of also lost a lot more if I had of committed properly at times I was supposed to be losing weight but I've lost 35% of my start weight and 68% of the amount I want to lose. Very helpful to see the progress I've made when I have only lost 2lb this month.

Geeky stats help me too :D

Couch 11-23-2009 07:25 AM

I too am a fan of the geeky stats. I've lost 32% of my original weight, and 67% of the weight I want to lose. Hey Rainbow, we almost match:)

LesliesMom 11-23-2009 08:39 AM

I have only lost 9.2% of my starting weight, but 23% of the 100 pounds I want to lose. Scale is moving again and I am focused, only good things will come.

salsa chip 11-23-2009 09:03 AM

I've lost:

nearly 16% of my starting weight and
just over 40% of the weight I have to lose.

And even though I'm a mathematician, I have no idea what that means *snigger* Does the 16% show that I had (relatively speaking) less to lose?

Nada 11-23-2009 09:20 AM

Math is not my thing so I had to play around with the calculator before I could remember what goes into what, but I have lost 30% of my starting weight and am 84% of my way to goal. And yes I could have been there by now if I'd kept on losing through the summer and early fall.

But---seeing the percentage of how close I am, it would be a shame to quit now!!!

Kae 11-23-2009 09:58 AM

I've lost almost 19% of my original weight and 40% of the weight to goal... Yay! Hopefully I hit that 50% next month...

time2lose 11-23-2009 10:26 AM

Rosinante,

You have done super! You and all the others have inspired me to do my math too!

I have lost 29% of my starting weight. I don't have a end goal yet so can't do that calculation.

I had to refresh my memory of how to calculate this so I am assuming that others need to also. Here is the formula for anyone who wants it.

((IW-CW)/IW) * 100= weight loss percentage

IW is your initial weight and CW is your current weight.

kittycat40 11-23-2009 10:33 AM

I love percentages also. When I started I was amazed that I wanted to lose 20% of my then self. This thread had me reflect and I actually have lost 25% of my former self. so cool :)

Rosinante, keep up the good work. Just keep looking forward :)

chicks, there are some pretty fabulous percentages here. rock. on. :):):)

uclr0028 11-23-2009 10:51 AM

I decided to calculate what percentages I have loss. I have lost 45% of my weight to goal and 25% of starting weight..

ubergirl 11-23-2009 11:08 AM

19.66% of my start weight... so I could pretty much round up to 20% but I won't since that's a mini-goal I'm waiting to get to.

49% of what I want to lose.

I've heard people say that people really start to notice the weight loss when you lose 20% and I have to say that's true.

dragonwoman64 11-23-2009 11:17 AM

great idea! hey, focus on the half full, right? 42 percent is GREAT!

I've lost about 25 percent of my original weight

and am at about 56 percent of my way to goal

CJZee 11-23-2009 11:38 AM

Rosinante -- I want to catch up with your percentages!

I have lost
19% of my startweight and
37% of the amount I want to lose

Ubergirl, it was so interesting for you to say that people really start to notice the weight loss when you lose 20%. No one really noticed my weight loss until this week when multiple people have mentioned it, even though I have lost 55ish pounds. I had never heard that 20% idea, but also think it might be true.

Loving Me 11-23-2009 11:47 AM

Love this thread, I'm a sucker for statistics.
So far I've lost 13.69% of my starting weight, and am 30% of the way to my goal. The 13.69 doesn't sound that amazing, but when I think I'm nearly a 1/3 of the way to my goal weight after less than 4 months that makes me feel great!

Yeah, that's how I'm seeing it - my 40% means I'm almost half way to my goal! That's like holy woah! :dizzy:

diabetic z 11-23-2009 01:43 PM

I have lost 17.2% of my starting weight and 36.3% of the amount I want to lose. Wow, I've completed a third of my goal already. Cool! :dancer:

CLCSC145 11-23-2009 01:51 PM

Well done, Ailidh!

Let's see, the 102.2 pounds I've lost amounts to 30% of my starting weight and 59% of the total I want to lose. I've gone from being morbidly obese to just obese to being 15.4 pounds away from overweight and 52.4 pounds away from being normal. Hooray for slicing and dicing numbers! It does help to understand how far we've all come!

catherinef 11-23-2009 02:16 PM

Looks like I've lost just over 42% of my starting weight, and have completed about 87% of my goal. I'm definitely going to drop my final goal weight when I get there, but for now, that 87% done thing feels pretty awesome.

That feels awesome because it is awesome! :carrot:

thistoo 11-23-2009 02:47 PM

I am terrible at percentages! I do know this, though: I have lost 38% of my original body weight, and my ultimate goal is to lose 51% of my original weight. I knew I was pretty close to goal, but somehow 13% sounds less daunting right now than '33 more pounds'.

cfmama 11-23-2009 03:22 PM

You guys are all doing so awesome!!!!

Thanks! I try not to dwell on it too much, because the last thing in the world I want to do is get complacent, but yeah, I'm so happy to be where I am now. :)

FitGirlyGirl 11-23-2009 04:40 PM

Wow, you guys have some awesome percentages going on. I thought I'd add mine to the list

23.1% of start weight
43.5% of total weight to lose

Those numbers definitely do help the slow loss this month feel better.

I think I read that on one of the brilliant 3FC threads, but it does seem true.

I think a lot about how much all obesity seems to get lumped into the same category. It's almost as though, once you're fifty pounds overweight you might as well be one hundred pounds overweight.

But the 20% I've lost makes a HUGE difference in EVERY aspect of my life.

KforKitty 11-24-2009 07:38 AM

I've lost 42% of my body weight and 104% of my goal.

Kitty

Rosinante 11-24-2009 12:11 PM

Heehee, I haven't checked this thread for a couple of days and look at all those wonderful stats!

cfmama! Just look what you started !!!!!

Well, I wouldn't call me a numbers person ;) but in general, we're everywhere :s:

JustBeckyV 11-24-2009 10:45 PM

I have lost 28% of my original weight and I am 34% away from my goal weight.
