getting married!

i just got engaged sunday, so of course i get the sudden burst of motivation to get healthy and lose weight! we haven't set a date yet (maybe fall '10 or spring '11), but i definitely want/need to lose weight before the wedding. i see pictures of myself and want to cry right now. :(

i have gained and lost the same 50 lbs. every other year since 2005 (a total of three times!). in fact, this time last year i was exactly 50 lbs. lighter. i never make it to that "onederland" mark, and almost always get to 200, plateau, then give up and go back to my old ways.

i have always found these forums very supportive but have never really posted in this one! i love the 20-somethings group, however, i feel like with so much to lose i might find even greater support here!

anyone else newly engaged or on a journey for wedding weight loss? i obviously have at least a year to do it, but i need to keep this motivation up! a buddy would help.

thanks and look forward to chatting with you all!

That is fantastic! Congratulations and what a great reason to slim down!! You can do it!! Keep your head up, celebrate small victories and forgive yourself for slip ups. Only 6 weeks into my umpteenth weight loss journey and finding this forum to be very helpful, real and supportive. Good luck and have FUN planning :carrot:

Congrats!! That's a big part of the reason I'm slimming down! I've been engaged for just over a year and have 12 months to shed some weight. I will definitely support you!

Congrats on your engagement! That is fantastic news!

And welcome to this part of the Boards! It's a nice place. I hope you'll stick around.

One of the prevailing thoughts you will notice once you start hanging around in this part of 3chicks, is that most of us view weight loss not as a goal oriented activity but as a process--a way to live until we reach goal AND BEYOND!

So, when you come up with your plan, this time, evaluate whether it is a plan you can stick with for a very long time--like life! Is it a plan that will feed and nourish you forever? Is it a plan you can live with without difficulty? You don't have to have it ALL figured out before you begin: just be open minded about the weight loss being a journey--a process andnot necessarily an end in itself--because NO ONE wants to ever see those 50 pounds come back, do they? ;)

Congrats!! I lost 30 lbs before my wedding but I had a short engagement (4 months) and I honestly always recommend you get married sooner rather than later! I know you want to lose weight but planning for a wedding can be stressful and I was glad I only had a couple months to stress over it.
