Default A little "start of new school year" in all of us?

It seems like I've been reading a lot of people stuck on plateaus or even falling off plan completely the last few weeks. Then suddenly this week folks I haven't seen in a while popping up recommitting to their plan, and I suspect some plateaus are soon to be broken through as well.

Were we all just getting that end-of-summer, "Mom-I'm-bored feeling"? It's been a lifetime since I was a student but every year I am re-energized as September rolls around. Somehow that's always been the "new year" to me.

Now I live in a place that has year-round schools and summer temps in September but still I find myself getting that start of a new grade feeling and spent the last few nights digging out my nutrition manuals and excercise books to refresh my plan.

Hoping to pass along a little of that excitment to all my friends here at 3FC. The school bell is ringing...

I work at a college so I definitely get that "start of new school year" feeling. I even think of my weight loss in terms of semesters. Last fall semester I lost 25 pounds so that is my goal for this fall semester.

I'm a student, and my kids just started pre-k and kindergarten... :| but, yeah, I do get that start of new school year. Even though I took both summer semesters. Its easier for me to have time to do a dedicated work out which is vital for me, without it, I tend to flounder.

I've noticed lots of new chicks here lately, too--welcome to you all! You might be right; it might be the whole "first day of school" feeling that is prompting people to start thinking about getting into shape.

I know that I love this time of year. It's still summery, but there are signs that fall is coming. When I was a kid, I would love getting off the school bus and going to get my horse out to ride. There was still plenty of light before dinner, and the cool air made my horse all frisky and fun. Ahhhh, those were the days!

I think the last couple of weeks of summer dragged me down. It was the hottest 2 weeks of summer and it had been a hectic summer. We got the tail end of a few hurricanes and now things have cooled down considerably and school is starting. It does feel a little like a new year, new start. And I love the fall so bring it on. Makes my walks beautiful.

I've always felt the same as you about the start of the school year. It's a new beginning of sorts. A time of renewal. A clean slate.
