Fitness NSVs
All this week, I've been feeling grateful for my body. I know-- kind of miraculous--but it's true.
I'm 48 and for the last couple of years especially, I've spent a huge amount of time sitting on the sofa. Last spring, I walked down to the end of the cul de sac on my street, down a steep hill, and couldn't keep up back up the hill with my 74-year-old mom who had a heart attack a while back. I started lap swimming and walking two months ago, and I can't believe how quick I'm gaining in fitness. I notice the changes in my workouts even quicker than I notice the weight loss. I'm finding it miraculous how quick my 48 year old body is forgiving my incredible bad habits and gaining fitness by leaps and bounds.... Two months of changed eating and exercise have gotten me back to about where I was two years ago-- and yeah, it's kind of discouraging to just go back to where I was-- but on the other hand, it's amazing that I was able to recoup two years worth of losses in two months. Now, I just have to keep going! |
Good for you! And I agree - our bodies really want us to use them correctly and we are quickly rewarded with a great improvement if we only exercise them a bit, huh? I'm always amazed at how fast I re-gain endurance when I start exercising again.

That's great! So encouraging! I actually was thinking something similar today, that my calves were feeling strong and powerful. And looking better too! That, I don't think, has anything to do with weight loss, but with an increase in activity.

As I'm new to this forum, would someone please tell me what "NSV" means? I keep seeing this and can't figure it out...
Thanks, S |
