Ok.Been there.Gained 10lbs in 3 days when I was hospitalized for kidney stones.........they say EVERYONE loses weight when they have gallbladder disease before its removed....Uh...not.I gained 10lbs in the month before. After I had it out, I lost 15 lbs in 1 month without doing anything different.I was recovering.Sedentary and eating what I felt like.SO, its fluid.Have you ever picked up a 500ml bag of sodium chloride or D5w?I have and do every day at work. They are HEAVY>You will feel so good when that nasty gallbladder is gone.

I have no actual scientific proof of this, just personal experience, but I was bloated like a puffer fish before my surgery - it all came off + more with no actual attempts at weight loss once my body had started to heal and I got the dicky gall bladder out. Your weight will too. You just feel less stuffed for lack of a better word when its out. Everything just feels leaner . . . The numbers not working in your favour for now DO suck though - am sorry you are feeling crappy :( If you can, I think staying off the scales until you are feeling like your fabulous self again (way post op!) is not a bad plan :)

Awwww... Tammy, I don't know you very well, but I have read some of your posts and I know you are a great gal. Don't let a stupid machine rule your mood. Your body is trying to get better. You know in your logical mind that there is no possible way on earth that it is fat, so just forget it. Put the scale away and don't weigh for a couple of weeks. Concentrate on getting better. It's just a number, not a true measurement of body fat, which is the only thing that counts.

Having just been through this in the last 6 weeks, I can relate.....it's fluid, just fluid! It will leave as quick as it came!

Thank you
THANK YOU I know this but hearing from so many people that this is NORMAL is just so... comforting. I'm going to put the scale away. I AM. If all goes well and it's done laproscopically (like it should) we're leaving on vacation four or five days after. We're gone till August 13. I'm aiming NOT to weigh until I get back. I know because of the pancreatitis that my doctor wants me on fluids until next Saturday for sure. Then soft foods, no extra fats, no milk products etc for another week or so for sure. So the chance of GAINING weight on vacation is virtually nill. Thanks again. You know I love you all. THANK YOU for supporting me. I feel like the ultimate freaking drama queen :( |
You're just human lovey :)
Good lucky for the op! x |
It DOES suck. :( But at least you know its just water weight and next time you weigh yourself (don't do it now, maybe later in the week, once you're much better) you'll see a massive/encouraging difference I'm sure. Don't lose heart. Keep fighting the fight. You're still on track no matter what the scale says!!! Hugs!

Listen to all of these wonderfully smart people here. Sending hugs and prayers your way!
|
TOTALLY human! TOTALLY normal to have a minor freak-out along the way!
We heart you! Kira |
Nothing that hasn't been said, But....stay off that silly scale, you will need to be strong, tomorrow is the day you have waited for...for a very long time, your weight is just going to need to take a backseat until you are fully recovered and you can do what you know has worked for you, temporary weight gain is just that, no need to worry!!
