I'm a newbie too - I am terrified at the thought of trying to lose 50 lbs by a certain date, so I'd like to focus more on the workout totals. That's 22 weeks of workouts at ~4.5 hrs. per week, or 45 minutes a day/6 days a week. That is a big challenge for me, but just what I need to keep me motivated!

7/19 286 at start of challenge
7/30 281 lb. (after a week of camp) Lost: 5 lb. Total lost: 5 Workout. ~5 hrs.
8/3 279 (after a flu) ******** lost 2********total 7 *******workout 0 (sick)
8/9 283, Plus 4, lost total 3 lbs
8/16 282, lost 1 total 4, workout ~ 3 hrs
8/24 280, lost 2, total 6, workout ~ 3 hrs.

9/13 271 lost 6, but I was sick all week & didn't eat or work out
9/20276 + 5 - gained all the weight back that I lost when sick :-(
9/27 278 +2 Blah - need to get back on program. Lost total of 8 lbs now.

I would like to join. If I could lose 50 pounds by Christmas I would be over the moon (and then some)! Summer and Fall are my best times of year for weight loss, so I am going for it!

We are taking a one week vacation to Cancun in November, so hopefully this will help keep me on track during that week.

Starting weight: 266. Christmas goal weight: 216!
