Accountability/Menu/Planning 13 - 20 July

Hi lovelies!

Well, that was a fun weekend. My internet completely and utterly died, so I haven't been able to get online at all. Sometimes I wonder why I stick with this iSP, then I realise the others are even worse, if it's possible.

Anyway, drive by posting just to start us off, I'm sorry - I'll catch up tomorrow.

Talk to you all soon!

mj5 07-13-2009 08:46 AM

Good Morning!

nicolen--Oh, that stinks! We lost power a couple of times this weekend--bad storms Fri and Sat, that's why I wasn't around much.

I had super fun weekend! Yesterday went to my nephews grad party. Had a great time catching up w/ friends and family. the weather actually cooperated! It was warm and sunny was an awesome breeze! Perfect day for an outside party!!!!

Unfortunately, food and exercise were not great this weekend. That changes today! Back to the gym!

Have a great OP day everyone!

Slashnl 07-13-2009 12:17 PM

Had zero change on the scale this morning. Well, that's probably my fault... still ticks me off. I worked out this morning and that was good. I need to be vigilant on staying on plan for food. Later this week, I'll be heading out of town to visit relatives. Could be tricky for food, so I'll need to really pay attention and not do a lot of damage. I guess I'll go walking since I won't have the gym at hand.

That's all for me today. Feeling a little blah.

CLCSC145 07-13-2009 01:44 PM

Hi all! Nothing interesting to report. Still eating fine and exercising very little (insert sheepish look here). When the weight is coming off fast, it's hard for me to force myself to exercise. I was down 4.2 pounds this week, which really surprised me somehow even though I weigh daily. I thought it was a slow week until I looked back at my stats. I guess it just FEELS like an eternity...

Hope everyone has a great day! I'm off to make some egg whites and veggies.

nicolen 07-14-2009 03:48 AM

Well, I guess it had to come. I've hit the wall a bit today. Lots of don't wanna feelings - I didn't go to the gym and rang in sick to work. Logically I know that July and August are always a bit rough for me with depression, but yeah. I wasn't quite as ready for it when it did hit. That's OK. Tomorrow is another day and I will make it to work tomorrow.

I'm just a bit angry at myself, which is stupid. The depression is part of who I am and I know I'm doing everything right - I'm exercising, I'm eating healthily and I'm socialising. It's just one of those things that happen and I can get through this - I've got through it before when I was in a much worse place, so I can definitely do it this time.

I've been trying to find a trigger and there's not really one - perhaps a show on TV the other night that was absolutely brilliant, but did leave me upset, perhaps my mother forgetting to ring me - she always rings on a Sunday night and didn't. And I'm wondering why I decided to focus on debt repayment this year rather than taking a holiday on a warm beach somewhere. I know that it's the sensible thing to do with the recession, but sometimes being a responsible adult sucks.

So yeah - not a good day, but it could have been a lot worse as well. At least the scale's back to 229 - it's been hovering between 230 and 233 for about 3 weeks now.

MJ, so pleased you had a good weekend.

Diane, I'm so joining you with the blahs.

CC, go you with the weight loss!

Rhonda, if you're lurking, :hb: my love! Hope you have a wonderful birthday and your hubby and kids spoil you rotten the way you deserve to be.

Take care, everyone!

mj5 07-14-2009 08:48 AM

Good Morning! It is a gorgeous day here....bright and sunny and going to be 70. My kind of day! I am going to go to the gym and then take the dogs for a walk. I am down 1 lb this week....finally an actual loss!!!!

Diane--Ok so the scale didn't move. Not the end of the world. Good for you for getting your workout in and for having a plan while you are away!

CC--Great loss this week!!! I've been struggling w/ exercise myself. Not so much doing it, just finding the time to do it. I need to make it a priority. Unlike you, I don't lose if I don't exercise.

nicolen--Being a responsible adult does suck! Think of the holiday you will be able to take after your debt repayment! Sorry to hear you have hit a bit of a wall. The good news is, you know what to do AND you have us!!!! I am a firm believer in mental health days from work from time to time--we all need them!

Rhonda--I am psyched that nicolen remembered your bday! I agree...hope you are having a fantastic day!!!!

Schmoodle, Beverlyjoy, jab and everyone else who stops by--Hi!!!!

Have a great OP day everyone!

Schmoodle 07-14-2009 09:58 AM

Hi chicks, I haven't been on to post my menus again for a few days, but I have been on-plan and feeling great (except for one unfortunate encounter with a piece of fudge my kids had brought back from the beach and stuck in the fridge and forgotten). Ah well, that's life!

It is starting out cool and sunny here again today. No complaints about the weather this summer so far, except I don't know if I'll ever have a ripe tomato with these cool nights. No big excitement around here today. DD has dance camp. I've got to take my kitty back to the vet - she had a tooth pulled last week, and has stopped eating so I hope it's not infected. It's a quiet week at work, which is perfect because I am on vaca next week, so trying to tie up loose ends.

DH wants a Salade Nicoise for Bastille Day dinner, and I forgot to pick up the anchois, so I need to run by the store when I pick up DD and also grab a couple of baguettes.

Today's Plan:
B: strawberry smoothie with cottage cheese, hard boiled egg, coffee with milk
S: hummus with cucumber, tomato juice
L: lean hamburger patty, salad
S: skim latte
D: Salade Nicoise (no potatoes or baguettes for me)
S: South Beach peanut butter cup

Happy Birthday Rhonda!

Slashnl 07-14-2009 03:17 PM

Wow, it must be that time of year. The time of year for midsummer blahs (or midwinter for Nicolen!) I worked out today and it was a good workout, but I felt like I wasn't really into it, just going through the motions. I think I've got my mind on going on vacation after work on Thursday. Time for a break. I stayed on plan for food yesterday, but I noticed last night that my feet were puffy, as in retaining some extra water. Maybe because it has been so hot.

Rhonda: Happy Birthday!!! Hope you have a great one!

CC: Good job with losing the weight. Sounds great! I need to exercise all the time or I start gaining.

Nicolen: As I said above, I can relate to how you're feeling. Hopefully it is getting better for you!

MJ: Yay, you lost! Awesome!

Schmoodle: Funny you say that about the fudge. I just made some fudge for my husband. The good thing for me is that I am not a fan of fudge, so I can leave it alone.

To Jab, BeverlyJoy and anyone else: Hope you're having a great day!

jab91864 07-14-2009 08:04 PM

Hi everyone!!

Well after reading the posts I can say it must have been something universally in the air yesterday. I came home from work and laid down shortly thereafter. I was dragging badly and had several ppl ask what was wrong with my eyes... they were very bloodshot. I can only assume allergies were to blame. A bit better today in appearance. I used my Zaditor eye drops and it's a fabulous product.

Food has been good. I finally broke open the TVP I bought and gave it a whirl. Not bad really. I made too much and kept thinking there is too much meat in the casserole but in reality its not meat. I just hadn't hydrated it before and will know a lil better next time. I used zucchini, spinach, beans, tomatoes, onion, and spices with the tvp.

Slashni~ hope the puffiness goes down, I know it can be frustrating.

Schmoodle ~ hope kitty is feeling better and there is no infection. I agree on the tomatoes. Our summer has been cooler than norm and I fear it will catch up with us soon. I hate humidity and that is what we normally have. The only down side is my garden. My peppers seem too small and the tomatoes may not have enough ummph after the cool nights. I have a great recipe for tomato pie. I will have to re-work it to suit my diet but it is great.

Nicolen~ I hope you are feeling a bit better. I know when the low times come they can be overwhelming and bleak but we always have to remember this too shall pass......

To everyone else a big hi !! :)

Well, I went back to work today and it was a bit of a battle. I had a talk with the boss and we've agreed that I'll take next week off and just give myself a chance to unwind. Reality is, it works for him too since I've got so much holiday time owing. He asked whether I wanted to take the rest of the week off and I decided against it - mainly because the schools are all on holiday at the moment as well. Still, it's only 2 more days.

I want to keep to my routine as much as possible, so I'm going back to the gym tomorrow and will keep doing that. They say exercise is good for depression - I don't know about that, but there's no way that it can be bad for me, right?

So yeah - plodding along and I'll get there in the end.

And confession time - I saw Rhonda's name down the bottom of the forum page, that's how I knew. I'm not psychic or have a wonderful memory!

MJ, yay you for the loss. Awesome stuff!

Schmoodle, Salade Nicoise sounds like a fantastic way to celebrate Bastille Day.

Diane, yay for a holiday!

Jab, you're not having a great time with your allergies, are you. Hope you feel better!

Have fun everyone!

Beverlyjoy 07-15-2009 06:10 AM

Hi chicks - I just can't seem to put together a sane healthy non-bingey day. I come home from my work very tired and head straight to the faux comfort of over eating. On a day when I am not working - I can't get past breakfast. My pieces and parts are constantly challenging me.

Thanks for thinking of me

I keep trying again.

jab91864 07-15-2009 09:01 AM

Just a quick hi to everyone. Working a different shift today which means will be home late.

Beverlyjoy~ hope you have a better food day. I know evenings are my big challenge in this life. Typically when I arrive home the family has just finished dinner or is in the process of finishing. Seems like the first thing I see when I walk in is food all over the kitchen table and they are eating the stuff I can't have...lol. I also go into a rush to fix myself something so I am not eating late in the evening. I've taken to keeping snacks I can eat in the house and by my computer so if I reach for something I hopefully grab something healthier than something bad. I know it's rationalizing but I tell myself first and foremost I am striving for healthy food.

Nicolen~ I think exercise raises the endorphins (sp?) which causes us to feel better. Perhaps exercise and a spa treatment for a day, even if you do a pamper at home it might make you feel a little better. I know when I am down writing helps. I write terribly dismal poetry that really does help drain away all that emotion... putting it on paper or your pc can give a release for some ppl. There are many times we have things bottled up inside we can't bring ourselves to voice but can be written.
I have read boxing is good too for venting frustrations, just a thought.

I hope you feel better and start to look forward to some of that time off. Maybe plan a fun day with a friend. Won't be the same as going on holiday but will give you something to look forward to.

Well I need to finish my breakfast (roasted brussel sprouts... I almost put them back at the grocery as I felt they were terribly over priced but they are delicious at this moment , who knew some day I would think brussel sprouts were a treat)

Have a great day everyone !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

SunshineCA 07-15-2009 01:31 PM

Happy Wednesday everyone! :)

I slept much better last night. No insomnia! :D It's been days since I've been able to sleep well. I felt so much better this morning. I took my daughter to school and picked up a few things from the supermarket. For breakfast I made scrambled eggs with mushrooms and reduced-fat cheese, turkey bacon and a reduced-sodium V-8.

I have a few errands to run and the usual housework. Does it ever end? :?:

May you all have a successful and productive day! :)

Slashnl 07-15-2009 02:29 PM

Well, I woke up late, but made it to the gym for a reduced workout. Tomorrow I have to get up so that I can make it to the spin class. I'll need that before I go on vacation. By the way, after tomorrow, I'll probably be pretty scarce until next week. So, I hope everyone has a good week.

Sunshine: No, it doesn't ever end. Endless laundry and housework... Gotta love it.

Jab: I used to do a cardio boxing class. What a great way to release some tension!

Beverly: Hang in there. I can very much relate to what you say. It is so hard to stay vigilant when stressed out or tired. Hope it gets easier for you!

Nicolen: Hope some days off will help. It's no fun feeling depressed. We're here for you!

mj5 07-15-2009 02:57 PM

Hi everyone! I have had a terrible time getting in to this site today...when I tried from home it kept telling me that it was blocked due to the adult content...not sure what everyone was discussing this am! LOL!!!!

I only have a minute, but just wanted to pop in and say hi!

Someone I went to high school with is checking into a belly dancing class. How fun does that sound? It is supposed to be really good exercise, so why not?!

I see my ortho tomorrow....so hopefully I'll get some news there. At least some pain relief. That would be helpful!

I'll catch up w/ everyone soon!

CLCSC145 07-15-2009 03:37 PM

Hey all!

Just a quick check in. I'm off to the movies tonight with my friend and then to dinner. We're going to see The Hangover. I hear it's very funny. This will be the first restaurant visit since I started this round of weight loss. I'm not worried though.

Hope everyone is having a great day!

nicolen 07-16-2009 02:30 AM

Hi ladies,

Yay for Thursday night, and one day to go till the weekend. At the moment at work I'm just focussing on getting through till my next break. My productivity sucks, but that's OK. It's early in our financial year so there's heaps of time to improve that.

We had an earthquake last night. 7.8 on the Richter scale so it was a biggie! Thankfully it hit an area that's very sparsely populated so there's no casualties and little damage. Even so, I felt it here and I'm around 900 kms from the epicentre. And we were put on alert for a tsunami. We got a 17cm wave, so a minu tsunami. It was a bit of a scary night!

I made it to the gym this morning and did cardio. Didn't want to at first, but by the time I'd done 10 minutes I was fine. And I felt better for it, so that's good.

Work was good - we got some news about our bonuses today. We're paid a bonus of up to 10% of our salary depending on how we as individuals perform, our business unit performs and how the company performs. We're still waiting on the company results, which makes up 2% of the bonus and those results won't be good. But of the 8% decided on, I'll get 7%. So yay for me! And that'll be paid in mid August.

Beverly, that's all we can do is keep trying. Much better than giving up completely.

Jab, how odd to have brussels sprouts at this time of the year. I love them roasted as well, and have a wonderful recipe involving baking them with some blue cheese, but they strike me as such a winter vegetable - in fact I have some in the fridge myself.

Sunshine, yay for no insomnia! And tell me about the housework. I hate it as well!

Diane, enjoy your spin class and the holiday!

MJ, you should go for the belly dancing. It always sounds like such fun!

CC, hope you enjoyed your meal and the movie.

Take care all.

Beverlyjoy 07-16-2009 06:12 AM

Hi chicks - thanks so, so much for your words of support, kindness, ideas and inspiration. I appreciate it greatly. It did better yesterday.

Today-
meditate!
stretches
ice and heat for my pieces and part
put my fork down between bites
taste my food

I'll be back a bit later for personals.

Thanks again...........Bjoy

Slashnl 07-16-2009 11:23 AM

Hi all. Just a quick post today. I am buried at work, so I need to get busy and then get out of here and on the road! I went to spin class... it was hard and I almost had myself talked out of going, but it went well and I'll be sore tomorrow. It's a good accomplishment for today!

Have a great weekend everyone! I might check in on my dad's computer. Otherwise, I'll chat at you all next week!

jab91864 07-16-2009 08:55 PM

Glad to see the board in general seems to be doing a little better. The weekend cometh ladies. Tomorrow at work plans to be a stresser but seeing it's Friday I will persevere.

Sat. I have a memorial ride for a friend that passed away recently and a wake of sorts afterward. I am making a chocolate trifle and jalapeno ranch deviled eggs as my dishes to pass.

Sun. I am going to see Harry Potter. I loved the books and enjoy the movies but always get frustrated they leave important details out...lol.

My food for the last two days has been...

wed 7/15/09

roasted brussel sprouts
lf yogurt
water

triscuits
water

Joseph’s flax, oat bran, w. wheat lavash
2 morningstar sausage patties

nicolen 07-17-2009 03:53 AM

Hi lovelies!

Yay Friday. Yay holiday! Just yay really. I've decided to forgo my glass of wine this week - I figure alcohol is probably not the wisest idea given the way I'm feeling at the moment. But that's OK - the wine will be there next week!

Anyway, gym and yummy trainer this morning. It's never a good sign when he uses words that sound like "we've got a new programme and you're going to be sore tomorrow" is it? More free weights, less machines and lunges - ick! That's OK - I now have a waist that dints in, so it's obviously working. But seriously, those are not words I wanted to hear this morning.

Work went well, except I'm going to have to go back tomorrow - I left my mobile there! Pretty stupid really. Never mind - I'm going to the gym and that's halfway to work, so I'll have my workout, bus to work and then bus home.

I'm going to enjoy my week off - Monday, I'm going to spring clean the kitchen and the living room and they really need it! Not sure what I'll do for the rest of the week - I might go and see Harry Potter, but I'm supposed to be going next Friday night to see it, so maybe not.

Beverly, good to see you're sounding a bit better today!

Diane, enjoy your holiday

Jab, yay Harry Potter. Let me know what the movie's like!

Lottie, how fantastic to see you again!

Have fun everyone!

I'm so glad the insomnia spell has been broken! :) I don't wish that on my worse enemy! :dizzy:

I had an assignment this morning and was pressed for time. I wasn't able to make breakfast so I ran to Mc Donalds for a Sausage Mc Muffin (no bun) and coffee. The coffee was good but the bunless sandwich was BLECH!!! :barf: I guess I've become used to eating at home. It was really salty and disgusting.

For lunch I made a salad of 2 grilled turkey burger patties, crumbled bleu cheese and cherry tomatoes.

For dinner I'm going to have leftover Vegetarian Tofu Chili from last night.

mj5 07-17-2009 08:33 PM

Good Morning everyone! Ok...I am trying to do this from memory, so if I get it wrong or leave you out, I apologize!!!

lottie--YEA great to see you back!

nicolen--I am so glad you are taking some time off. Good plan to do some cleaning....ugh, my whole house needs that kind of tear everything apart kind of cleaning....just haven't do it....

Schmoodle and Diane--Hope you are having great vacations!

CC--How was dinner out? My problem is I get WAY too much take out....How are the dogs?

Jab--How has work been going? How was the memorial? If you would be willing to share your choclate trifle recipe, I would love it. I make a strawberry cheesecake trifle (as low fat as I can) for special occasions that is a huge hit w/ my family. Always looking for something else.

Beverlyjoy--Hi! Glad to see you back. You CAN do it!

sunshine--yea, I'm not a big fan of cleaning...unless I am in the mood for that "tear everything apart" kind of cleaning....then I love it.

As for me...went to the ortho last week. Ended up seeing a PA b/c my dr was called away on an emergency. The PA was nice, but didn't know ANYTHING about what was going on. She gave me an injection, but did it different and my knee still hurts from it.

Food has not been great. Exercise has been ok. Today will be a 'lazy day w/ the dogs' and back at it tomorrow. We leave for Cooperstown on Friday...Hall of Fame stuff, so I have lots to do at work (only working 3 days). We are taking lots of food w/ us and we'll go out to dinner. We have been going there for years, so I can plan easily for meals. I know lots of great places to walk (and to stay out of the crowds), so that will be my exercise plan.

Have a great OP day everyone!

CLCSC145 07-19-2009 11:26 AM

Hi all!

Dinner out was fine. Though I think it took until today for the salt to go away! I need to go out and forage for food supplies today, but it's so hot I really don't want to. Maybe if I shower and go now... Rare for me to get out so early on a Sunday. I'm out of Diet Coke and that leads no place good. :D

Hope everyone is having a great weekend!

goincrazyinky 07-19-2009 11:41 AM

A great healthy breakfast

B = 3/4 cup of plain regular Dannon yogurt, 3/4 cup frozen blueberries, 1/4 cup soy nuts (from nutsonline.com) and 1/3 cup of extra fiber Allbran, mixed together with a good dash of splenda and it is like eating yummy ice cream.

Lunch - 6" Vegetable Patty Subway sandwich with double veggies and sweet onion sauce as it is lowfat.

Supper - Champion brand Whey chocolate protein shake with a cup of soymilk, and a banana and a cup of ice in blender. WOW this is good..oh and a dash of splenda.

I don't mind it but I think we were tricked when we were kids. Think about it? They gave us all the fake kitchen sets, vacuum cleaners, washing machines & dryers, brooms, mops, baby dolls with diapers, clothes, milk, food, ironing boards, and the list goes on....It was all a set-up, I tell ya!
