Default Egg Beaters

Love them or hate them. I just went to their website and I'm impressed with the pictures of recipes and the fact that I can get 6 grams of protein and no fat.

I love me some eggs! I make a fantastic apple and blue cheese omelet, quiches and frittatas are favorites of mine, and I often use eggs and whole wheat tortillas to whip up fast and tasty meals.

Problem is that I'm really trying to lower my fat intake, so if these Egg Beater thingies can help me out, I'm willing to give them a try.

Tell me what you think.

I love eggs, too.

I'm always slightly suspicious of convenience foods. I'd have to read the package, myself.

And it seems an unnecessary expense when all you really need to do is use fewer yolks. (1 yolk to three whites is the ratio I heard somewhere, I think. Not sure if that's right, though.)

But, it might be worth it if I couldn't bring myself to throw out the yolk. Which I can't. Not yet.

I like em, especially the new ones with some yolk added. I haven't bought whole "real" eggs in months. I use them in all my recipes and such.

I just finished the southwestern style on an english muffin for breakfast. Also, they're only 30 or 40 calories per 1/4 cup of egg beaters which is much lower than whole eggs.

I use them and they have been a huge help for me. I scramble them and they don't taste exactly like whole eggs but are close. I can have the equivalent to two eggs for 60 calories. When I started using them for breakfast I saw a big improvement in how satisfied I was. They were a good way to get in my protein.

In recipes, I can't tell the difference between eggbeaters and eggs. I imagine that when you add veggies, cheese, etc that you won't be able to tell the difference.

Hubby eats them on occasion and he's a pretty picky eater, so they must be pretty good! You can make your own by just taking the yolks out of your eggs. Whenever I have to separate eggs, I feed the yolks to the dog.

I don't love them on their own, but IN stuff they're ok, and I do love making chicken fried rice with them -- leftover brown rice, some veg, some chicken, some soy sauce in a nonstick pan, brown it all up and throw some egg beaters in to make it smoooshy and yum!

I don't love them or hate them but for the amount I can have with out trying to separate the yolk from the egg it's all good

Thanks everyone. I think I will give them a try. I hate separating eggs and always feel so wasteful throwing the yolks away. I don't have a dog to give them to.

Trazey, the Egg Beater site has a recipe for fried rice. I'm so putting that on next weeks menu. I will even add a little chicken I think.

I saw that and a couple of other recipes that I want to try. I think that I am going to adapt the fried rice one to make a serving for one.

I like them, although if I'm eating them on their own-- like making the family breakfast I'll usually add a real egg in with them.

I love them. They're especially good with some Laughing Cow cheese melted in.

I do still buy regular eggs every once in a while when I want to make egg salad, but I feel so wasteful throwing out the yolks.

When I first tried them, I did not like them, but I gave them a second try and with mushrooms and fresh salsa, (not bottled) they are absolutely wonderful. That is all I eat now, and the ones with a touch of yolk are good and I have also tried the southwestern, very good. You cannot beat them for the calories and the protien. Great choice. I will have to try them with the laughing cow, cause I surelly love that. Thanks for the top.

I like them. I eat a lot of egg whites, and I got fed up of throwing away the whites - seemed so wasteful. I like a 1/4 cup of egg whites scrambled, served on toast spread with Laughing Cow, salsa and a little pepper. Tasty, and filling.

I love them for french toast, but the problem I find is, they go bad too quickly. The carton says you have to use it in 7 days after opening. I just can't have eggs that often, so some always goes to waste.

I was going to give them a try, but I read the ingredients and there seemed to be a ton of additives, so I went with the "au naturel" whole eggs. Separating the white and yolk does not bother me, but I did hate the waste until I figured out that my dogs LOVE the yolks, and their coats are so shiny now too! I feed them raw (dogs aren't susceptable to the same microbes we are), but if that icks you out you can briefly microwave them too. Cats like them also! But if you have chunky pets it might not be the best idea, LOL!
