Blown viens and morphine hangover

aka: Tammy takes another trip to the ER due to rampant gall bladder attack.

I DID finally find out what is taking so long to get a surgery date. Because of my blood clotting disorder I have to see a hetatologist before surgery and we have none up here in the north. So they are having to get a hold of a guy in Vancouver and are having a hard time contacting him. I feel better knowing what the hold up is at least.

what caused this attack? Cottage cheese... of all things...

So I'm bruised and battered and exhausted :( But that's me. I am here... but not here you know?

You poor thing. I kept meaning to ask you if you had a surgery scheduled yet. Yeah, it's probably a good thing that they're checking with the blood clotting specialist before giving you surgery! Hang in there; this doesn't sound like fun at all!

First of all ! I am so sorry you have to deal w/gall bladder attacks... I dealt w/them for 3 months before i even knew what they were! I found that a heating pad helped me a lot when i was having an attack--- I would put it on my side, kinda under my arm pit but lower where it hurts AS SOON AS I FELT THE PAIN coming on! (mine started out feeling like a running cramp) I would lay on it and try to sleep... it helped me w/all of my attacks but 2! the two that landed me in the ER. The things I absolutely had to stay away from were:
Peanuts
Chocolate
Cheese *any kind!!*
Coffee
Greasy foods
Fatty foods
*oddly enough chicken also sent me into an attack too... and my attacks were usually at least 8 hours after I ate whatever triggered it... (i usually got them in the morning)
I basically ate oatmeal, toast (dry), pasta plain w/a little salt maybe...
Good luck with getting an appointment w/the hematologist...
I hope you can find comfort until you can get the evil thing out!

Hello Nurse 06-17-2009 10:08 PM

Oh, I have been there! I had to delay my surgery almost a year while I was in nursing school. It was an accelerated program and I literally did not have time for it. By the time I got it out, I could not eat a single grape without pain. I couldn't take any narcotics either because of school. When it finally came out, there were so many stones in there my anesthesiologist called me a rock star for sticking it out so long! My surgeon had only seen 2 other cases that bad in his whole career.

Maybe eating small frequent meals will keep things from getting blocked? I know it is sheer misery. Hang in there. I will be sending happy gallbladder thoughts your way!!!

You're in my daily prayers. I hope they can fix this soon, this is ridiculous. You shouldn't have to suffer like this my friend. Hang in there.

You poor thing! Do you have stones or a poor function issue? My DH had low function w/ no stones and he could *sort of* avoid attacks by watching his diet (I say sort of b/c some foods would always cause attacks, so he would avoid those, but others were hit or miss). I had stones and, unfortunately, there was no getting around an attack. They came on with or without any food imaginable. I ended up with emergency surgery b/c I had a stone stuck in a duct...anyway, I hope you get relief very soon!

I have stones :( And sludge. Whatever the heck that is.

sigh. Off to have a hot bath.
