Doesn't work: Buying lots of frozen meals, getting takeout, ordering from the deli counter, eating out frequently.

WORKS: Writing down your daily intake in an online journal. It helps me avoid eating horrible foods just because I don't want to write it down and then I rationalize with myself :P
DOESN'T WORK: Avoiding portion control. Don't eat until you're full, eat until you're satisfied and bulk up on veggies. Listen to your body!

works - tracking my calories online as soon as I eat something
doesn't work - adding up in my head what I've eaten - I always end up eating more than I thought.

Works - Keeping track of what I eat and the calories and fat in it.
Doesn't Work - "Guesstimating" how much I've eaten (I always think "it's only 100 calories", but gosh they add up fast!).
