Glad to hear it's nothing as serious as cancer, although sorry it will probably be painful to get them removed.

And congrats on the halfway point!! That's wonderful! :cp:

Just to update the people who wanted to know and have been asking :)

That is awesome - congrats..

I felt the same way when it turned out to be a kidney stone.

I hope you heal quickly and well!

I just got back from my appointment. I have a referral to a surgeon and hopefully I will get in to see him soon. They will try to do it laproscopically of course so it's an easier healing time.

He reiterated that it was NOTHING I had done that caused these gall stones and to not feel guilty about it at all. That it was bound to happen. In fact he encouraged me to keep losing at this rate as it would make surgery and recuperation that much easier. I am to keep taking my daily antacid and using the Buscapan for relief when I have attacks.

Of course there's more news... always. I have an obstruction in my kidney. Most likely due to repeated kidney infections in my mid 20's. I will be seeing a urologist to see if anything needs to be done but most likely we'll just keep an eye on it through yearly scans.

So that's my update. Hurry up and wait right?

Good luck with the surgery - hopefully they can push things through.

And I really wouldn't bother feeling guilty. You made the best decision you could with the information you had. That's all that a person can be asked to do.

Glad to hear losing the weight didn't play a role in this and that you can keep going at the pace you have.

Sorry to hear about the kidney obstruction, but it does sound like the best case scenario since they probably will just monitor it.

Hi Ms Mama!
I had a gallbladder attack and after an ultrasound, they gave me the option of having it out if I wanted. The doctor said that PROBABLY I had a bunch, but without definitive x-rays/tests etc. he didn't know, BUT gallstones are like ants. You just normally don't find ONE, you find a whole bunch.
I elected to get mine out laparscopically because I didn't want another attack when I was travelling and, god forbid, in a foreign country trying to deal with this in a different language.
ANYWAYS, I got right in. I had my gallbladder removed. It took about 45 mintues. I had absolutely NO pain. As in, I never took a SINGLE painkiller. No aspirin, no motrin, no NOTHING.
Don't be afraid or worried about it. It was so simple and I've had no complications...just get it out because you don't want an attack when you are away from your medical community...
Glad you're OK!
Kira

When I had mine out I was fat n forty, probably about the same weight as I am now and rising.
I went to a specialist hospital in London, where I was told that generally, surgeons did big incisions on fat people and keyhole on thin. However, when I came round it was to find that the woman in the next room, who was rake thin, had had the big incision, because that's what her surgeon did; mine was a keyhole fan and, regardless of size, he did it on me, very successfully.

14 years of surgical developments on, keyhole should be no problem for you!
