Favourite Breakfast - weekend and weekday

  • I love reading about what other people eat! This is how I got all my ideas for new foods!

    My fav weekday breakfast is:

    1/2 grapefruit 1pt

3 slices turkey bacon 1 pt

1 slice high fiber toast (natural ovens) w/ 0pt spread

total - 2.5 pts and I get a fruit in

    weekend:

    2 cups of hasbrowns 2pts
1 egg 2 pts.. I mix up the hasbrowns with the egg
    banana 2 pts

6 pts.... I love a big breakfast on the weekends!!

I also like making diet style french toast..

2 slices of high fiber bread (natural ovens) w/ egg mixture & milk - 2 pts
    w/ honey butter 1 pt
sugar free syrup - 0 pts

wow - just 3 points.. then add a piece of fruit for a total of 4 points.. this is soooo filling!

I love to hear your favs

  • What do you use for your spread, Dana??

I'm not a big breakfast person... but I make sure I get something in. It varies, but is generally simple. I try to start my water as soon as I wake up.

On weekends, my DH likes to make pancakes. I use caution, and eat very slow. That way, I fill up much faster and don't overeat. We usually get a ton of outdoor exercise on weekends, so I normally don't worry too much.

I've just cut my Diet Coke.... and I've had some serious withdrawal... headaches, etc. But the Aspartame threads just really hit me hard. I've got some Diet Rite in the fridge if I get desperate! LOL!!
  • I love toast and LOVE butter. I have almost cute butter out of my diet completely.

I sometimes use... apple butter... (try bayfield brand - white lid - made in Wisconson) 0 points - NOT all apple butters are 0 points

Smuckers low sugar jam... 0 points

    honey butter... (my fav!) 1 T - 1 point

peanut butter 2 pts 1 T - worth it for me

philadelphia light (not FF) chive & onion cream cheese - 1 T - 1 pt
(I usually put that on a natural ovens bagel - very very filling - and yummy)
I also put a little on a sandwich (use it like butter) add a wonderful taste.. add cucumber to your sandwich - used with the cream cheese those slipperly cucumbers will stay in their place

    Hope this helps...

  • In the past..I ate ALL breakfast foods, my favorite meal of the day, ironically, that's when I was gaining weight at a rapid speed.

    Now..I eat..

    2 hard boiled eggs

    OR

2 slices of wheat with PB

    or

    High Fiber cereal with skim

    or
omelete with any fixings I want
  • I normally have a mixture of oatmeal and bulghur with either rice or Almond milk, and a slice of toast (usually homemade wheat, this week, homemade white ) with just about a teaspoon peanut butter...just barely enough to spread on I also throw in some cereal here and there, cheerios, life, raisin bran, or almond raisin granola I eat simple breakfasts, I guess if I have a weekend breakfast, or more likely just a special breakfast once in a while it's tofu based breakfast burritos with Gimmie Lean sausage substitute, or a bagel with tofutti cream cheese and facon bacon
  • i won't gross you out by telling you what i eat for breakfast.

but i do have a tip for sakk and the pancakes...

for an extra protein boost, here are some ideas:

    - use cottage cheese instead of milk
    - thin out the batter so the pancakes are thinner, and then layer a little cheese and shaved ham between a couple of pancakes

    - mix some shredded cheese into the batter. i liked cheddar best

just some thoughts... it'll help stabilize your blood sugar for all that activity!
  • okay jiffypop.. now I have to know.. what do you eat for breakfast????
  • Thanks!
Thanks for all the great ideas for breakfast Morning time is my *worst* time... and I'm not always thinking. I'll tell myself the night before that I'm going to start off the next day with a really smart breakfast... and then AFTER I eat, I remember that I was going to do something different.... argh... LOL!!!

PNG: What's bulghur?? I've never heard of that?? Our local grocery store has started getting a *LOT* of neat stuff in...I'm very impressed! Granted, I haven't tried anything out yet... not even knowing what it is... and how it's supposed to help me! <Grin>

After hard-boiling eggs... how long can you keep them in the fridge???
  • this one's for you, slimdown!!!
don't get me wrong. breakfast used to be one of my favorite meals, but it's not possible any more.

my day starts with 16 oz water, then a 30-gram protein shake [chocolate, of course, with a small spoonful of unsweetened cocoa in it]

and then an hour or two later, i have a deviled egg, or an ounce or less of very thinly sliced turkey with a very very thin slice of muenster cheese.

and then lunch is when i remember to eat it. on friday, it was at 3 pm!!!

i have to get 80-100 grams of protein in every day, and the only way i can even come close is to get about 60 grams in protein shakes...
  • Bulghur is a very high protien food, it's wheat that's been wire cut, steamed and then toasted, it's really very good, and pretty cheap too, running about $1 a pound... another good protien grain is quinoa, but it's rather pricey, worth it though, it's a complete protien
