Default Why I am NOT going to the gym today.

This morning I was up at 6:30 like usual and got the kids on the bus and was ready to head out the door to go to work. I reached towards the table for my car keys and came up empty. A quick search of the house turned up nothing... suddenly it clicked in my head.

My son took the garbage out last night in the evening and had to use my keys to get something out of the car. I realized he must have put the keys in his coat pocket which meant they were now at his school. Great.

I called the school and confirmed, then realized something else... my purse was in the house but my wallet is in the car. Which means my checkbook, debit and credit cards, and cash are locked in the car. All my friends work during the day. This leaves me absolutely no option but to WALK to the school to get the keys.

So, walk I did. 2 1/2 miles each way. My son's school is very near a river and is on very low ground. My house is way up in the bluffs surrounding the river. It's a LONG big hill.

I did it! I walked the whole 5 miles. It took almost 2 hours but I made it entirely under my own steam even though I was offered a couple of rides!

I am SO proud of myself! Yes, my legs are killing me and I am definitely taking the night off from the gym.

That sounds like a GREAT workout - hills are killer.

I'm a walker too - on days I don't lift weights, I try to do 5 miles.

Wow, that title scared me. I thought I was going to read something bad.

Good for you. You turned a hassle into a great opportunity!
