#155 Love Yourself First

Hi everyone..it's Friday again! Yay. Figured I'd start a new thread and what better title to use, loving yourself. Isn't that why were all here?

I am doing pretty good. Feel pretty today, wearing a skirt with calf boots and a nice top. I love when I feel good about what am wearing. Makes life so much easier. Stil haven't gotten to Lane Bryant to use that cuopon and most likely won't. Bills are in and it seems like they never end. I should wait anyways till lose at least 10 lbs before I purchase anything new.

Nothing big planned for the weekend. My youngest sister (15 :?:) has a dance recital on Saturday afternoon. She hasn't been on a stage since she was 9, so am very excited. She sure is growing up, and into a very beautiful woman.

Icewoman..I have heard of complications "behind closed doors" while on medication. You may want to speak to your doc and discuss your concerns. There are other meds or doses you can take. Not everything is for everyone. No reason to suffer.

JacobsMommy..Pedicure?!?!? Ooooh. I am jealous! Enjoy your day!!!

Mrs. Big Dawg.. 40 LBS!!!!! WOOOOOHOOOOOOO! Hope your daughter is feeling better, how scary! I am so glad she wasn't too badly hurt.

Velvet..Your "dress up" dinner sounds so cool. Did you take pics?

Jiffy..Girl, we would have a blast if we all had dinner together. I think it would turn into breakfast cause am sure we wouldn't stop talking. I hope your Mom is feeling better. What are they going to about the dietician? You all need someone supportive. Not a dimwit.

Sakk..You went a week early? Oh wow. You sure do have alot going on! Keep your chin up. Being busy is good sometimes. Just take some time for yourself.

doitforme..Scales. What a nightmare. They go up and down up and down. Don't stress it. Just keep going.

Have a great, wonderful, OP and strong weekend everyone.

BA99TJ 05-17-2002 10:27 AM

I know we need these new threads... but Jennifer has a knack for making them when I'm about to post replies to everyone... so I have to write on paper notes about what everyone said. LOL!!!

I'm feeling a little better, but do still feel icky from time to time...

I am having a royally great day. Hubby has been WONDERFUL to me for the last 12 hours... its been so nice to be pampered. I went home last night and packed about 5 boxes full of stuff, and pulled out all the other boxes. I'm so glad I'm a packrat, because I have all the original boxes for 90% of my crystal, dishes, and wedding presents which will definately help to keep things safe!! I think I'm actually only missing the box for 1 crystal piece, and have everything else. So, onto the joys of packing.

Tonight I'm headed to some friends to shampoo their carpet for them.. They are having a baby very very soon and of course had to rearrange the house and furniture... My mom has a carpet shampooer, so I'm heading over to do that, then I'm going to shampoo the couch when I get home. Or at least shampoo one of them tonight, then I can do the other one.

This weekend will be crazy, because my brother is graduating from College! I'm so proud of him! We have the ceremony tomorrow morning at 10 am, then lunch with him, then we head to Greg's sisters to see her for her birthday. Then Sunday we have church, then Jon (brother)'s party, then youthgroup from 5-7.. then the Survivor season finale at 8! So its crazy, and obviously I won't have much time for packing this weekend.

I too feel great today. I got dressed and actually NEEDED to tuck in my shirt, AND needed a belt, which I fit into for the first time in about 7 months. So that was definately great. I feel sexy today, probably because my jeans are the ones that are tight in the rear that inspire my husband to give me a little thwack when I walk by... I never mind, because I really missed that when I couldn't fit into these jeans. It's amazing what clothes can do for your mood!!!

I was thinking about self control today... and wondering if I really have self control, or is it just that my house is "safe" from any foods I may binge on?? I guess we'll see as we have a cookout today at work and parties all weekend... But then again, I haven't eaten much the last few days because I just haven't been hungry.

Ok onto individual responses:

PNG: I feel silly responding to you since I talk to you ALL DAY! LOL but I'm really glad you are feeling better and that your mom did ok! I'm praying that the doc finds out what's wrong quickly!!

Jenniffer - remember, persistance, not perfection (tx sandi!) Have fun at your sister's recital... And I'm trying to avoid Lane Bryant until I am down at least one size, although I had really been hoping to be able to buy a new dress for Jon's graduation... Oh well. It's hard though, isn't it :)

Tamara - Don't know what exactly you are experiencing as far as side effects go. I do know that my doc gave me workarounds for all of them (physical, emotional, etc.) and that being on the anti-depressants was definately important!!! Good luck, talk to your doc, hopefully he can help!!

Sandi - I'm glad you are doing better... at least it didn't take as long to jump back on the bandwagon this time!!! I hope you really enjoy your day off!!

Carol - oh my friend... I will be praying for your daughter!! I am glad that she is doing ok. 9 LBS!!! Whoopeee!! that is AWESOME!! Hope your mouth gets better real fast!!

velvet - congrats on the successful party... And don't worry too much about what you ate... No guilt and move on girlie!

jiffy - Praying about your job, good luck getting it permanent! I too know about food = comfort, I've been trying to find other ways to get comfort when I need it, or to at least distract myself away from food... it seems to be working ok for the most part, but I still do eat for comfort now and again! Sorry about the evil dietician... You really do need to have someone who understands to listen to you!! And I'll be praying for your mom's hand.

sakk - hope you don't miss your hubby too much, and good luck with all the kid stuff this weekend!! Hope you make it to all the right places at all the right times!!!

doitforme - so glad to here your mom is doing good!! Don't worry about the 3 lbs, I'm sure its water retention from eating out!! You'll be fine. Don't be a slave to the scale!!

To any one I missed - lots of hugs!! have an AWESOME weekend!

nasus40 05-17-2002 10:53 AM

Hi girls i know i have been absent form the form a bit lately but it is due to being busy. I have not been the greatest on the woe but getting better. I do not have time to go back and read and reply to all so i will just jump in here.

Jenniffer 05-17-2002 11:33 AM

If you would prefer me to not begin the threads at all to make things less confusing, just say the word and I'll just wait for you to create the new ones.

No big deal, just figured it was time for a new one. There will always be someone a few posts behind when they don't post individuals for awhile. Guess that's the problem with message boards. Just let me know. Glad your feeling better today. Looks like you have a busy weekend ahead of you.

Nasus..I am going to check out the protien shakes this weekend. What do you think of them? I will PM you for the recipe book. Full body massage......ahhhhhhhhhh.

Jenniffer 05-17-2002 12:27 PM

P.S

Can't forget Sandi...You have been doing wonderful chickie, staying focused and determined. Your an inspiration to all of us.

BA99TJ 05-17-2002 01:13 PM

I have no issue with anyone creating new threads, I just think your timing usually manages to be "perfectly matched" with when I sit down to post individual replies to everyone!!! I always laugh when it happens :) We need to keep things clean and unconfusing :)

Zap 05-17-2002 01:46 PM

Hello Everyone,
I havent posted on the board (other then my profile) so I'd like to take the time to throw a few words out there.

What can I say, I think your all great :) I've been "lurking" the past couple of days and you are all such wonderful people. You keep each other motivated and on track, and if someone would slip, hey we're all only human. You help them overlook it and keep moving on. When someone has made an achievement you reward them with kind words and give them encouragment to go even further. Sometimes a few nice words can work miracles.

I am so happy I found this site, this is just what I need. However for now I must run. Time for me to get off this booty and shake it a little bit. :sheep:

Nice to meet you all and I hope you have a fantastic weekend!
Traci

velvet 05-17-2002 10:00 PM

Hi, Traci. Welcome to the 100 lb. Club. This is a great site...and a fantastic club. I thank God I found it.

I'm doing very badly this week! I don't know what's wrong. I always seem to get to or near that 50 lb mark and stall! Two years ago I quit when I hit 52 lbs. I wonder if it is my fear of 'normalcy'. Sometimes I think that when I get to a normal wt. that I won't have any more excuses about why I am rejected. Because, after all, if I'm fat, I can blame other's prejudices for my own shortcomings. I'm so screwed up...are you sure you want to meet me in Sept?! :?: And, when I'm 'failing', I don't even turn to prayer!...because then if I binge, I'm flagrantly opposing God. He may strike me dead on the spot or....

Gonna move along!

Love, Gayle

jiffypop 05-17-2002 10:09 PM

well, let me settle in for a nice bit of typing. i'm supposed to be writing an article, but this is more fun.

there seems to be much better news this week than last week for everyone. people's health seems to be improving, and BA is getting ready for her new abode [wouldn'[t it be fun to spring a housewarming on her???? ]

and the pounds are coming off as well. always a nice thing to see, especially after all that hard work and frustration.

and sexy clothes. and good attitudes. maybe it's a sign of spring???

mom's hand is doing well, but it looks awful. it hasn't stopped her from putting in her plants, so that's a good thing. she still can't manage to take her medicine, or prepare a hot meal [she's really good at getting chicken salad from a local deli, though!!!!], but she can go out and buy tomato plants and flowers and get them into the ground.

and sandi, she's a hoosier!!! born and raised in liberty center indiana, a suburb of bluffton. the middle of corn and soybeans.

as for those crazy people, it'll be resolved early next week. i'm so amazed at all the support of the folks who work there.; they really want me!!! and they want me to instill order and systems so that they won't get so burned out. a tall order. and i can't do it without the support of senior management. and i don't know if it's willing to change the culture. we'll see. but no matter what happens, i'll have a great title, and experience in a good field. i'll walk away in fine shape.

and jen, so will you. you want to come out to secaucus and help me crack a few whips?? maybe even tie up a few folks just on principle/???

a pretty decent couple of days, foodwise. but i did lose all my dinner tonight. i ate too quickly and paid for it. not a big deal.

no major weekend plans, except for attempts to get over this stupid cold!!!! and to buy cat food, dog food, cottage cheese, and yogurt. and some unsweetened cocoa for the protein shakes. such excitement!!!

have a great weekend, ya'll

doitforme 05-18-2002 06:38 AM

Hi!

It is pouring here! I also have to work a double today, so this will quick, I read but have no time to respond to everyone, so just pray all goes well for everyone through the weekend. Velvet- don't beat yourself up, the fallback will soon go forward, stay positive girlfriend I am right there with ya. I went out for chinese food, its a quick buffet, should of been a salad bar. But it was yummy. I find out if mom goes to re-hab today. But over all she is doing great, so love to all keep on keeping on!

Jennelle 05-18-2002 01:15 PM

AAACCCKKKK! Horrible weigh-in :( I'm up 3 pounds. I know exactly what I did - no tracking, lots of junk, not enough water. *sigh* I am, however, proud of the fact that I did go to weigh-in even though I knew it was gonna suck.

So now I'm back on track. My week 8 book was about strategies for dealing with setbacks, etc. One thing it made me realize was that, even though I have set goals, I haven't really set any concrete steps for reaching them. Sure, "Join WW" is a step, but it's not very concrete. I need to set up things like, "I will drink 88 oz. of water every day" or "I will walk for 30 minutes five times a week."

I have 12.5 lbs. left to reach my WW 10%. At 2 lbs. per week, I will be there on June 29. There are only 11 weigh ins between now and the beginning of next school year, which is when I wanted to be at 190 lbs. There is no way in **** I will be able to lose 40 lbs. in 11 weeks, so I guess I'm gonna have to modify that goal, as well. 208 it is.

I'm a little bummed, but I'm not giving up...

Sandi 05-18-2002 10:03 PM

Gayle - I'm sorry that you're having a bad week. Don't give up!! You know last week when I was doing so badly, I was thinking about you and how well you were doing. I thought to myself, Gayle is doing it...you can too. I thought of how hard you were trying and bringing in such consistent results. So girlfriend, you CAN'T give up, I need you there to keep me going. **Big weight just placed on Gayle's shoulders** :) You know, I'm at my wall too. 40 lbs is all I have ever managed to lose. EVER. We can both do this. One day at a time. Yesterday...can't change it. Tomorrow...not yet. Today...this is what we can control...worry about today. I know you can do this!!

P.S. If I don't make it to Boston, you will be making that trip to Indiana!!! :D

Temporary Insanity has set in.. I bought a bike !!!

I had to walk it to the gas station yesturday to fill the tires with air, by the time I got home (a whole 10 minutes later) I was gasping for breath and ready to drop dead :o lol

Oh what a sight I must have been!

People can laugh at the "fat woman" on the bike all they want, I spent the money for it and I'm not going to let it sit! Today I'm grabbing my 2 older girls and I'm going for a real ride !

Wish me luck because I'm going to need it! :D

velvet 05-19-2002 05:01 PM

* * * * * I MADE IT* * * * *

Sandi, thank you for your kind words. They mean more than you can know. You are an inspiration yourself, you know. OK, Sandi, let's scale that wall together. You'll soon be at 50 gone and I'll be at 60! Then maybe it'll give us the inspiration to keep going till the next wall!!

I paced (in my head!) and drove around and passed every fast food joint in town 5 or 6 times. I kept praying, and thinking of you guys and truly not wanting to let any of you down. So, when I got back home, I ate an orange and made it through 'til 5:30 and made a big dinner. Then ate some pretzels in the evening. So, I was within my daily calories.

This is a HUGE accomplishment for me. I have always been one who gives up in the face of adversity. So, I thank God and Belle (I was on IM with her for a while and she sent me an e-card) and you guys and me for getting me through.

Zap, **CONGRATULATIONS** on your recent insanity!! I think you are to be commended for taking a step like that. Good girl. Now peddle your a$$ off!! (Literally!)

Jennelle, you can do it, too. Keep plugging along. You don't have to be a certain size by a certain date to be a success. That is an excellent realization that we need to create steps to accomplish our goals.

Sue, thanx also for your words of encouragement! I'm glad to hear that your mom was moved to the rehab. She'll be improving daily. Sorry it's such a long haul for you to get there, though. It rained here today...then it SNOWED!!! I don't want to see another flake till November...or December...or never!

Jiffy, what an fabulous sounding job you're GOING to get! Best of luck there. Hope they pay you a fortune. My best to your mom with her hand. If she can plant, it is a good sign!

Hi to everyone else.

Love, Gayle

Jen 05-19-2002 09:53 PM

CONGRATS GAYLE!!

We're all really proud that you made it through without succumbing to the fast food monster. Great job.

Traci - what a great thing, even if insane  I'm sure you and your kids will enjoy your bike rides.

Jenelle - I just joined WW about a month ago and had my first gain last week. It is a real bummer when you see a gain. I know we will both see losses next time in.

Not much new with me tonight. Made this wonderful potato salad, if it weren't for the bacon it would be fairly low fat. How on earth do you figure out points for bacon fat? Would it be about the same as for a tsp of oil or butter? In this recipe you have to reserve 4T of bacon fat after cooking 1c of bacon crisp then add it to the dressing. I must have had really lean bacon though as all I got was 2T. There is only supposed to be 4 servings though so that is about 2tsp of bacon fat per serving and about 2 slices of bacon and 1 c of potatoes. I would guess 1 cup of salad is about 6 or 7 points. A lot of points but very, very tasty. It is not a mayo based salad like so many of them are.

Take care all.

sakk 05-20-2002 09:13 AM

Good Morning All:)

I survived the weekend:) Dave (dh) had a pretty tiring weekend at Fort McCoy for guards, and I had a pretty tiring weekend doing all of the running with the kiddos. I managed to be on time for everything! WOOHOO!! <GRIN> Tori's dance recital yesterday was incredible!!! She did so amazingly well:) I was such a proud mommy. Ü I took Logan & Tori out for supper on Friday night, and I actually did pretty good!

Are any of you Survivor addicts? I am, so I've been watching all of the coverage on the finale. Tori is at school already, and Logan is still sleeping. Though I'm totally *NOT* a morning person, I try to take advantage of the the time between Tori leaving for school, and Logan getting up. I should be putting that time to work and getting some activity in. But this is my hardest time of the day for that! I have no energy first thing in the morning.... Suggestions??

BA99TJ 05-20-2002 09:38 AM

Well, the weekend is over thank goodness... This weekend was crazier than the week usually is!! I am totally wiped out. BUT I did get up this morning and go to the gym.. and although right now I still feel just plain exhausted I know that once I get my butt back into the schedule, I will start to feel a heck of a lot better. And I must say that after 2 weeks of not going to the gym, managing to get up after a LONG weekend and going on a monday morning is one heck of an accomplishment, so I am proud of myself.

sakk- if you had told me 3 months ago that I would be getting up at 5:30 am to go to the gym most mornings I would have laughed at you!!! I rarely have energy in the morning, but I find if I "force" myself to get up and do something (walk the treadmill, go to an aerobics class) I usually end up having more energy than I thought I did. AND I am a HUGE survivor addict :)

Jen- I have no idea on the bacon fat... but good job using lower fat bacon!!

Gayle - YAY FOR YOU!!! It is so hard to avoid the fast food places, I am so proud!!!

Zap- have fun on the bike!! I love mine!!

Sandi - we are all setting "new" records in weight loss.. This is the first time I've managed to lose more than 5 lbs!!! I know we can do it!!!

Everyone else - have a great day!

sakk 05-20-2002 09:59 AM

5:30 .... Hmmm....

I know that it would do wonders for my body to get in to the habit of getting to bed earlier, and getting myself going earlier. Right now, I go to bed around 11:30... get up at about 6:15. I don't LIKE to get up that early, but my daughter gets up around 6:30 to start getting ready for school. She's out the door at 7:20. My DH wakes up around 4:45-5:00, and is out the door no later than 6:30. I have *NO* clue what takes him so long to get ready! LOL!!!

I have two dogs... Amber (1-year old Golden Retriever), and Wednesday (3-year old Alaskan Husky). They're big dogs.... I think what would do us ALL good would be for me to get in the habit of waking early and taking them for a walk while Dave is getting ready for work. They aren't that easy to walk together (just me going....), but they'd probably do much better if they got in to the habit of being out with just me... I'd hate to take one and not the other.

I'll have to add these thoughts to my journaling for the week ahead, and see what I can do! Thanks for the suggestion:)

doitforme 05-20-2002 09:56 PM

Hi Ya!

I was off today, spent the whole day with mom consumed way to many calories eating fast food, poor choice in the hospital cafeteria. Mom should be released by Friday. Then my life can return to normal. She really is doing well, she had 7 therapy sessions today. Sorry I didn't respond to individual posts but bushed going to bed early. Hope all is well have a great day!

bella23 05-21-2002 09:45 AM

Well I'm back now. I had a GREAT trip. I got Wife of the Year for the US Army Reserves of TX. I won a whole bunch of stuff and had a blast. I will be getting pictures soon so I'll post one when I get it.

We did lots of things over the weekend. We went to a shooting range and shot my dh new guns (i love doing that, lol). We went toobing down the river, ridding go carts, shopping, got a tatoo, and went dancing. It was great!!! I didn't stay OP at all. O'well. We ate great food and I drank a little (lol) to much. But yesterday I weighed in a pound lighter then last week. So I guess it's not to bad.

I have been trying to keep up with what I missed so forgive me for not addressing you all. I'm still getting through both pages.

I'll talk to all of you later.

Goodmorning everyone. Seems like the boards are alive and well again.

I am doing pretty good, starting to look for an apartment again. I can't wait to be out on my own again. The little things we take for granted. Planning a weekend camping trip, I am hoping the weather warms up a bit and stays dry. Anyone going away for the holiday weekend?

Zap..Welcome to our lil home. How are you doing?

Velvet..We will not let you turn around and give up now. I will flood your e-mail box. You've come too far to give up now. Woohoo for you resisting the temptations and staying strong. We all know how tough it is. And I agree with Sandi, YOU are an inspiration to everyone here.

Jiffy..I saw your post about the Protien Shakes on the low carb boards. I don't know why I have never given thought to them. As someone just starting out with the shakes, what would be your reccomendation? Something easy and quick and that tastes good. LOL How are you feeling?

doitforme..Still chugging along..good for you.

Jenelle..Believe me, we all set "plans" (will lose X by this date"..and we don't meet it. BUT it keeps us focused and determined. Your doing wonderful!

bella..I am so glad you had such a good time with you're hubby. You deserved it! A tattoo??? What did you get?

JacobsMommy..Hi there chickie!

Sandi 05-21-2002 01:57 PM

Hi all!! Happy Tuesday!! :) Well, I had a loss yesterday, which is good. But I know I can do better. We don't weigh in next Monday because of the holiday, so I am hoping that by June 3, I can have a nice sizeable loss.

Things here are going pretty well. Very uneventful. Just busy.

Jennifer - Good luck on the apartment!! What ever happened to your cats?

Bella - I am so glad that you had such a great time!! All the things that you did!!! Where did you get that tatoo??? :D

Doitforme - Soooo glad to hear that your mom is doing well.

Sakk - I think Exercise in the morning would be awesome!! And once you get them in the habit, their cute little faces begging will be your motivation!! I used to walk in the morning and I loved it. These days I get up at 5:00, just to get Jacob and I out of the house at 6:35. Can't see getting up muchj earlier than that!

BA - Back to the gym - Good for you!!

Gayle - Yahhhh!!! You did so awesome!! I am so proud of you for being strong. WAY TO GO!!!

Jiffy - A hoosier!! now that's the kind of mom to have!!

Hi to Jen, Zap, Sue and Jennelle!! :D

bella23 05-21-2002 02:16 PM

Ok, my tatoo is between my shoulder blades. If you can't read it, it says "Wild at heart" It is my second tatoo. I have a tiger cub on my ancle.

This is the best picture I could take.

Hope you all like it, and I hope it doesn't offend anyone!

Hello Everyone,
Well, I love my new bike, it was great to get out with the girls and go for a spin. We didn't keep track of miles but we were gone for 2 1/2 hours. We rode everywhere, stopping for water breaks every now and then and walking up the really big hills. (we live in the country) I think I have a permenant indentation in my rear of where the bike seat was though  lol

Bella your tattoo is so cool, I've always wanted to get a little one on my ankle ...I can give birth to 3 children but I'm to chicken to have someone stick a little needle in me.

Jenniffer good luck on the apartment, I know how fun it can be to look for a new one.

Gayle Congrats! I wish I would have had your strength to keep driving by last night! Oh well, perhaps I'll have better luck next time.

Doitforme I was really happy to hear your mom is doing better.

Well time to run, it's laundry day *em yippie*.. one of the many joys of life eh?

Take Care All

jiffypop 05-21-2002 10:05 PM

so much activity!! so little time!!!

first off... bella, i'm so very proud of you for going to get your well-deserved award. i remember you were nervous about going, but it sounds as if the whole weekend went smoothly.. congratulations!!! and the tattoo. a very bold move. and thanks for sharing, i was very very curious, and more than a little jealous!!!!

and everyone seems to be back on track, more or less. it's not an easy path.

jennifer.. the protein shakes. a lot depends on how much protein you're actually eating. the surgeons recommended 60-80 grams for most folks because they have about 100 pounds [more or less] to lose. because i had soooo much to lose, they want me to have 80-100 grams. unfortunately, because of the stomach revisions, we can only absorb about 20-30 grams at a time. so no protein loading for us!!!!

and then, when do you want to have it? most of us start off the day with a shake, followed a couple of hours later by breakfast.

i have another one around 6, and don't always eat dinner.

i guess what i'm saying is that it's next to impossible to eat shortly after a protein shake, so you have to plan your meals accordingly.

the morning shake for me is about 30 grams of protein from the 55 gram chocolate protein drink from gnc. 1 scoop mixed with about 1/2 c skim milk, 1 teaspoon unsweetened cocoa, a little fake sugar, and sometimes some instant espresso powder. oh. and 3 ice cubes.

my favorite evening shake one is one of those fudgy myoplex thick things made with about 6 oz skim milkso that it's a thick pudding. it takes a while to eat. the packet has about 25 grams of protein, adn the skim milk brings it up to about 30 grams.

so, i'm getting about 60 grams of protein in a shake. food is extra.. the hard boiled egg is 12 grams, and if i eat a total of about 3 oz of meat or fish, or 2 oz of meat or fish and about an oz of cheese, that's another 20 grams or so, bringing my usual total to about 90 grams. on a good day.

notice the chocolate fixation!!!! really, there are other flavors, but why go without chocolate??????

the isopure mixed drink was quite good, and 40 grams of protein, which i divided. the powder is supposed to be good as well, and apparently people sprinkle it on other foods, like oatmeal. they say it's tasteless. this might be my next experiment...

this stuff doesn't really take the place of food. you still need fruit and vegs, and meat, because there are lots of vitamins in meat, like b12.

probably the most important thing: make sure you can return any protein supplement if you don't like it. everything tastes different, and you have to go by your own taste.

hope this gives you a start.... let me know how it goes.

To answer your questions about my tatoo:

Yes it does hurt, and pretty bad. But it's one of those things that once they start you don't really have a choice but to continue. (unless you want a few black lines, lol) Once they get going it kinda gets better. And it doesn't hurt that bad after it's done. The one on my back is in the healing process and thank god I don't have to shave like my ancle, lol.

No I wasn't drunk, your actually not allowed to get a tatoo if drunk or under any other substance. The tatoo studio can get shut down. The place I went to was a very upscale tatoo studio.

If anyone else has any questions about it feel free. I am also showing you the tiger cub on my ancle. That is my fav. The tiger took 2 hours to do and the one on my back took about an hour.

Hi ya!

Sorry this going to be quick, I gotta run but just had to read to see how everyone was doing. Neat tattoos, bella, the tiger cub is cute. I always thought about getting one on my ankle, but never have. Hi to everyone else, thanks with the support with mom. Sorry I don't have time to do individual. But mom is released friday and I am suppose to go camping this weekend I have a winnebago. We are camping just a couple miles from my mom and dad, so hope everyone else has a great memorial day, if I don't a chance to get back. After the weekend my life should return to somewhere near normal. Take care, and have a great day! P.S. Jennifer happy apt. hunting!

Goodmorning everyone...beautiful Wednesday here in NY. I am having a really good OP week so far and I am determined to keep it going. I am already feeling alot better just from 2 straight strict OP days.
My camping plans for this weekend were cancelled because everyone thought everyone else was making the reservations. Well, I was tld 8 times yesterday that every campsite was booked with waiting lists. So, now, the weekend is up in the air. It's Fleet Week here in NY, so I may go down into the city. But I know that will be an adventure since everyone else will be too. So, we'll see.

JacobsMommy..A loss, A loss...WOOHOOO! You go girlie! My cats are still with John and will most likely remain with him. I am doing the unselfish thing I think. He has a 3 bedroom house, and I would hate to see all 3 cats crammed into a tiny apartment. And it's been a year since I've been with them, and am sure it would be alot for them to adjust to again. So, in a way, I said goodbye to them already. I miss them..it's been so long though.

Bella..Wow! That is really cool! I am envious too! I love both of them. I am getting a cat on my ankle with little paw prints around it..and maybe a butterfly on my back and maybe one on my....heehee I have none but I plan on one being my reward.

Zap..You're really workin that bike, aren't ya? It works every muscle you have, so that's a good thing.

Jiffy..I knew I could count on you. Well, I was thinking of having a protien shake in place of a meal, such as lunch. Lunch is my toughest since I am at work, so I was going to try them out. I don't really know how many grams I have a day of protien or how many I should have. I am insulin resistant and I have PCOS, my doctor ordered a diet restricting carbs and increasing my protein by 100% since my diet used to be ALL carbs. And I wondered why I kept gaining. lol I am going to the store tonight to see what I can find. Thank you and I will let you know what happens.

doitforme..Enjoy your camping weekend, and try to relax. I am sure you need it.

Hi All,
I'm feeling 110% better, finally. I think it was definately the fact that I slept for about 11 hours last night. But boy do I feel fabulous!! I've been having some wierd pain in some of my back muscles, but I'm pretty sure its just that the cold virus is hanging out there before it leaves me. I ate lots of garlic and cayenne pepper yesterday (thanks PNG!) and I feel really good. It's about time is all I can say!!

After my horrible weekend, I managed to lose .2 lbs. Yay! I would have taken just staying the same, so losing a little was better than I expected!!

Moving plans are proceeding, we've signed the lease and given away all the money we have (lol). We actually managed to get a week's rent back from our current landlord, so that's great news as well. I cannot WAIT to get out and into the new apartment.. That day cannot come soon enough I'll tell you that. I've managed to get a lot of stuff packed up too, so that's a relief. One whole room is done except for the closet. Tonight I plan to pack all the clothes I'm not wearing regularly so we can move Greg's clothes into my closet. I'm rapidly filling that extra bedroom up with boxes!!! We're getting our "new" table this weekend, so most of the details are slowly but surely getting taken care of. My in-laws are actually coming out to our apartment this weeekend for the first time... It figures considering we're moving out in 3 weeks!! Oh well. We have to get as much packing as possible done this weekend because we have plans for almost every weekend until the move! So that will be a little crazy, but we should get through just fine.

I had a great WW meeting last night too.. I went to the later of the two Tuesday night meetings (same leader) and really liked the second one better. There were less people, and more people in my age and situation brackets, so that was really encouraging.

Since we're showing off our body art, here's a pic of my tattoo which is on my left shoulder. I got it on my honeymoon! It barely hurt at all.. its more annoying than painful to get it done in my opinion.. but I will say that the closer you are to bone, the more it hurts. The inside edge (closer to my shoulder bone) hurt the most. So if you want one but want to avoid pain, I would suggest finding a fleshy or muscular area to get it done like your shoulder or your arm or your behind  ! I will probably end up with one more, I'd like to get one on my lower back or something like that.. I like to keep them where I can cover them up if I need to but also where I can show them off.

jiffypop 05-22-2002 08:53 PM

jennifer.. i didn't remember if i suggested that you use a low-carb version. some of these supplements are pretty high in carbs and calories.

so , if you're looking for a meal replacement, go low carb.

and you can also check out protein bars. some folks find them very convenient. i find them very gross. there's one decent one, though, that i found at cvs. it comes in rocky road flavor, and has about 20 g protein in less than 200 calories. do i remember the name/??// I ONLY wish i did!!

Jenniffer 05-23-2002 09:20 AM

OMG..I really thought it was Friday for about 10 minutes! And it's not. Sorry to dissapoint you all. lol

Well, it's almost Friday, that's what counts. I am almost fearing this weekend. 3 days of lots of food and drinks. How will I surive without a gain? I am planning my attack right now so I am prepared...I can do this! I can. I know I can. lol

How are you all going to survive? Any exciting plans for the holiday? Still unsure of what I will be doing, but I know it will be fun.

Still going strong and feeling good. This is a really good week for me. Woohoo!

BA..Nice tattoo!! Happy packing, I can't wait to begin myself.

Jiffy..Heehee, guess I should have mention the low carb one, guess that would have helped. I've tried the protien bars, and one of them tasted like uhm, I'll let you use your own words. lol I will keep experimenting though.

Happy Thursday!!! Feels like Friday...weekend before a Holiday. I have been doing pretty good lately. Making better choices. Actually having a perfect OP day and it's after lunch!! Had a tomato basil soy burger for lunch. OMG!! Soooo good. I would have never thought I'd like that kind of stuff. Feeling good, feeling strong.

Just wanted to say Hi to everyone. No huge plans this weekend. Just family time.

Happy Happy Thursday to you all!

My 5 year old daughter just made my day. She said "Mommy, I think your still losing weight because you look more skinnier." All I could do was give her a big hug. I dont see a diffrence yet, other then my pants fitting a tad better, but I was overjoyed all the same and thought I would share my moment with you all.
Tomorrow is WI so hopefully I'll get the proof in numbers I'm hoping for.

What brand of veggie burgers do you all buy? I have tried them once before and it was not the most pleasent experience. Perhaps it was just the brand I chose, so I'm willing to give them another shot.

I LOVE BOCA BURGERS! Actually anything BOCA. And the best part is there are TONS of different flavors. I like the American Classic (or something like that) and the Grilled Chicken.

I AM HAVING A FANTABULOUS DAY! I had a great day with hubby yesterday, but then life got INSANE At work. BUT, then my brother agreed to lend me some $$ short term so we can go get the furniture we need from IKEA this weekend.. and THEN my hubby called to tell me he'd just gotten us tickets to see Alanis Morrisette, who is my all time FAVORITE female artist. I AM SO EXCITED!! AND I JUST CAN'T HIDE IT!!

WHOOOPPEEEEE!
