Craving sugar

I just got back from 10 days visiting various family members. It was difficult to eat on program but I met my goal of maintaining.

But………..

I am craving sugar and it is driving me crazy. Here it is 10:45 PM and I want so badly to go hunt sweets in the kitchen. It is so disappointing because, before the holidays, I had gotten to a point where I did not even want sweets.

I know that after a few days of no sweets the cravings will disappear but that is not helping tonight. I have to tie a knot and just hang in there, so I am sitting with my large glass of water posting on 3 Fat Chicks.

I think that I need to go look at those inspirational before and after pictures.

Thanks for being there!

Ah, that IS what helps me. It helps me to know that I'm not denying myself forever, I'm just choosing to wait 3 days (or whatever), because I know when that time comes around, it won't be a struggle anymore.

I do well with sweets. Since I moved to Korea I have had less cravings for them. Not sure why but I try to satisfy any need with the sugar free chocolate pops. Seems to work.

Coming here helps a lot plus positive thoughts and visualization.

You'll get rid of the cravings. I had them big time again after Christmas, and after 5-6 days of eating clean, they have subsided.

Just stick with it, chew some gum - have a mint, brush your teeth and know that the cravings won't last.

Ahh, yes, the RE-detox period. Hang tough. IT WILL PASS!!! Know it. Hold on to it. And get through it any way that you can. Ya hear?

I love this phrase passed on by Meg, something to the affect of

"I've come too far to be ruled by a cookie."

Eat some protein, a hard boiled egg, cottage cheese or something? This really helps me. I know it's not what you're craving, but it will help get the craving under control.
A cup of hot tea, or sugar-free hot cocoa made with skim milk.
I've got to do the same thing after my Christmas indulgences. It's a tough few days, and I'm not looking forward to it, but it will pass if we hang tough.

Those sugar cravings stink, huh? Like Schmoodle said, sometimes the protein helps me beat the cravings. Exercise helps, too. Hang tough.

Thanks for all the input.

I made it through the night and the craving is better today. I got my son to go through the kitchen and remove all the sweets. I don't know if he threw them out or hid them. And I don't want to know!
