Butt Movers #5

Alright...5 weeks in now :-) today is supposed to be an off day according to my new schedule, but, who knows...if nothing else I'll get in some heavy duty cleaning in for some butt moving :-)

OK, all together now... :strong: :sheep: :jig: :D

I started my running program today. I'm taking from Runner's World magazine that has a 10 week program to get you into running for a continuous 20 minutes by incorporating running and walking for different amounts of minutes every week. For example this week I am supposed to run for 1 minute and walk for 2 minutes and repeat this pattern 7 times for a total of 21 minutes. I decided that it was going to take me more than 2 minutes to recover from running for 1 minute so I did 3 minutes of walking and 1 minute of running (well really a slow run/jog, I'm not sure what the difference is between running and jogging). But I'm proud to say that I did it!!:D I felt like I was a fish out of water after each minute of running I was gasping for air so hard. BTW just in case anyone is worried I did pass this by my doc at my last physical and other than being overweight I am in perfect health so I'm not going to keel over from a heart attack. After all of that I kept walking to complete my 3 mile circuit. The nice thing is that it took me less time than if I was walking, so what was taking me an hour to do took 45 minutes with running for 7 minutes. Amazing huh?

I am determined to be a butt mover this week!!!

Tuesday - 37 minutes step

Saturday - zip
Sunday - 15 minute walk

Week didn't go as well as I had hoped

Jen - Good job on the running. Maybe someday I'll be more than a walker!!!

Such a nice day, we've finally broke free of the evil clutches of mountain winter, and are quickly slipping into desert summer (no spring or fall here...) Ravyn and I walked to the casino to pick hubby up from work, then we all walked to the lawyers to sign some papers for the evil bankruptcy, then we walked back to the casino to get the car, and went to the wooden park to play for a good while before coming home for dinner... I'll be hitting the weights some too, probably before bed, rev up that metabolism before I sleep :-)

Cary 04-03-2002 12:56 PM

Unfortunately... the most exercise I get is at work. This is my dillema. However, considering the fact that I'm on my feet the entire time and if we're busy also walking (very briskly I might add) maybe it's enough to help. It's probably better than nothing. I have a membership at Bally's.... but I can never find the time to go. I should make the time since I"m paying for it.

(I'm a waitress by the way in case you were wondering)

Jen 04-03-2002 08:38 PM

April 3 - walked/jogged same as April 1. my knees and my left hip are killing me though. took a couple of Tylenol, taking tomorrow off for a rest day see how I am on Friday.

PNG 2 04-03-2002 09:48 PM

Another walk with Hubby and Baby this afternoon :-) gonna dust off the step tonight, work up a lil sweat... will post time with tomorrow's butt movin.

BA99TJ 04-04-2002 11:57 AM

Thursday = JOINED THE GYM!!! walked/ jogged 1 mile, 30 min weight training (abs, arms, and light legs)

Floridachick 04-04-2002 12:27 PM

Hello All,

I moved my butt today. Went to the gym and was on the treadmill for 45 min. did 2.5 miles (yeah :sheep:) I am going to start this weight training thing next week, looking forward to it. It focuses on more on weights. You do weights 2 days then cardio on the third. Definately like this program cause I hate cardio :D . I'll be posting my butt moving tomorrow.

Until Then

nasus40 04-04-2002 09:52 PM

Wed hard elliptical for 3 miles and 34 min...

thru walk 20 min and hard lower body exercise

BA99TJ 04-05-2002 08:42 AM

friday = 10 minutes treadmill (.5 miles) 45 minutes weight training (abs, arms, back, legs)

Floridachick 04-05-2002 04:07 PM

Friday,

Worked all morning at my job, it's not a gym workout but at least I wasn't sitting on my butt for 8 hours :dz:

jiffypop 04-05-2002 09:15 PM

can a curious person from the low carb board jump in here???

nasus mentioned that she also posted on this board, and since she's one of my wise idols, i thought i'd check you ladies out....

just a bit of background... i've already lost at least 180 pounds, about half through weight loss surgery.

and i still have more than 100 to go.

and this BUTT MOVER thread is interesting..

a couple of weeks ago, i started doing the gilad bodies in motion programs. for someone who couldn't stand up last summer without collapsing, it was hard!!!! the first week i couldn't keep up for anything!!! i still have to modify a few things, especially the aerobics, but at least now i keep moving.

and all this is a long winded way of saying that i actually did 45 minutes of gilad all week!!!!!!! it's a warm up, upper body, then abs and butt, and thighs, and aerobics.

anything else i do is extra after that...

Jen 04-06-2002 10:57 AM

4/5 - walked about 2 miles

4/6 - run/walk 3 miles

PNG 2 04-06-2002 12:22 PM

Forgot to post yesterday, was too busy chattin :-) did my daily walk with hubby and baby, danced like a fool with the baby for about 15 minutes, and hauled a LOT of laundry  today, ab/back work, leg work, and at 4, walk with hubby and baby :-)

Jen 04-06-2002 02:47 PM

4/5 - went for a short walk, about 2 miles, knees still pretty sore

4/6 - did the run/walk and then continued walking to cover 3 miles, knees are still sore but not as much as before.

nasus40 04-06-2002 07:07 PM

WHOOO HOOOO JIFF!!! so glad to see you here Of course a low carber can be here many of us here are low carbers!!! (they would have kicked me out longago if they did not want me!!)

That is such great progress!!! It is slow and steady that will win the race or in this case loose the fat!. the key is to do variety so you do not get bored, and do not over do it as you will get over worked and then stop. But that is absolutly wonderful progress. Now we just need peach to join us on the butt movers with her still walkin on the treadmill for the last 52 hours??

When i started last june with my exercise i was winded walking up 1 flight of stairs i avoided putting my clothes away cus i had to walk and carry now yesterday i ran 4 miles!!! (well walked about 0.5 of it for resting) but i can do it!!! I will sadly say that i did something to the muscle that is attatched to the illiac creast i am not sure what it is i think i pulled it so no runnig for me for a while possibly the week. but i am taking 2 days of rest for it to get it back in shape.

jiffypop 04-07-2002 08:04 PM

sue.. you are definitely an idol..

running 4 miles???? with no one chasing you???? i'm impressed!!! i've always hated running, all that sweat and all. and tell me true, have you EVER seen a runner smile???????

my goal is to go swimming. i love it, but right now i'm not sure if i'm steady enough to actually get into and OUT of the pool and getting in is a lot easier than getting out. as for variety, gilad does something different every day. and he's so cute...

as for slow and steady, the PT supervisor during my unfortunate incarceration is a hodgkins survivor, and she was SUCH an inspiration. she told me that she started at 1 minute on the treadmill, and when she decided that she felt better, she extended it to 7 minutes and promptly collapsed!!! she was fabulous!!! and a competitive ballroom dancer.

as for peachie... i KNOW she finally got off the treadmill. i saw her today. and we were sitting on her back deck, drinking coffee[her], and water [me]. she looks terrific, with her 20 pound weightloss. and she's starting to give me some clothes that she's 'outgrown.' let's suggest that she come over here to post. the menu thread is great on low carb, but there's no exercise log to keep anyone on the straight and narrow.

can't wait to get into those black jeans!!!!

:s:

and here's a PS>.. assuming you didn't strain a tendon, try some extra calcium [which we should all do since none of us is as young as she used to be!!!]. it's good for overworked muscles, helps break up the lactic acid, which is what makes them sore.

nasus40 04-07-2002 10:45 PM

thanks Jiff. I was aware of Creatinine but have not taken it. But was not aware of the calcium. I do have some, even some tums. I am not sure if it is the tendon or the muscle. from where it is i am hazarding to guess the tendons that hold the hip muscle to the joint. it is the same place that hurt when i was taking my bellydancing lesons. It sounds like the supervisor is great!!! it does one good to have been there and know what is enough. That is the most compassionate ones and well they are the ones that you do more for in the long run. How is your pt person now?? I see you are doing 45 min with him???

I have tried to get a exercise club up there and it did not go over so well plus it is ahrd to do it in both places, but maybe soo i see everybody is doing a great job at moving and their woe!!! I am glad that peach was off the treadmill today!! I was begining to get worried!!! And why was she not drinking the water too??? :D I am so glad that she is looking so great (and you too)

so for me today i did nothing!!! that is 2 days my hip is feeling better but i think i will wait a whiel longer before i run again.

well gosh must get to bed

jiffypop 04-08-2002 09:07 AM

nasus... hope you are feeling better

if it's not the muscle, then you've iced the area, RIGHT????? haven't you????? maybe the joint is swollen, which would go right along with a tendon injury.

and there is no PT person right now... raul [aka gilad] is on the health network a few hours a day, with exercise routines. and instead of sitting in the comfy chair, i get up and move with him!!! i took yesterday off, though, the first day in 2 weeks that i've missed!!

but this morning, it was back to work.

45 minutes of raul.

hope you slept well..

oh, and peachie did drink water most of the day. i showed up at her house at her afternoon snack time, when she has her WW snack [and she measured everything!!!! what a good little WW she is!!] and a cup of coffee..

well, back to making a functional resume [what a pain!!!] and the job hunt.

not really. first i have to check out what the other girls are up to, THEN back to the job hunt...

BA99TJ 04-08-2002 11:30 AM

Saturday: 30 minutes cardio (treadmill) 45 minutes weight training. (Hubby hurt me. Ow. He likes to push me (with weight load of course)

Monday: 5 minutes cardio, 50 minutes weight training. Have found muscles I didn't know existed before.

Jen 04-08-2002 01:16 PM

4/8 - walk 3 miles this morning, am going to try and bike a little this afternoon. The knees are still sore so I don't know when I will get back to running.

Sandi 04-08-2002 01:27 PM

Well my week did't round out so well. Only Exercised 4 days. I was hoping to do better than that. Here's to this week!
