Staying positive

I'm having a tough time staying positive about all this. I've been doing well the past two days, but it's hard not to get overwhelmed by the hugeness of what I'm trying to do. I'm trying to reteach myself almost every behavior I've learned in my life--how to relieve stress, comfort myself, eat, drink, relate to life, EVERYTHING.

So how does everyone get past this overwhelming feeling? I mean, I try to remind myself to take it just one day at a time, but what else?

SHORT STEPS ON A LONG JOURNEY

Dont keep looking at the whole picture
of what you must relearn and reteach.
If all of this overwhelms you..then take
one behavior at a time & concentrate
on that ONE behavior modification.
They say it takes 21 days to 'learn' a
habit. Well..take one thing you want to
relearn and concentrate on that one.
Every day teach yourself to improve on
that one behavior. After you have that
one down pat, then go on to the next
issue you want to change.
Journaling every day might be a help
to you. ome people write down every
day what they ate. Some people write
down every day what they will eat.
For you it might be better to plan in
advance & every night plan out what
you will eat the next day..or do it early
in the morning. Gradually this will
become second nature to you.
I hope this helps a little. Just be
determinded and you will succeed.

I try and take it week by week and day by day. If I thought in terms of I have 176 lbs to lose, I'd go crazy, instead, I try to do the best I can for the next weigh-in (which is Mondays for me), which allows me to forgive what happened the week before and focus just on this week. I also take it day by day in which I journal what I am going to eat the next day. If I journal the night before I am much more likely to have a good day. I also journal how much water I drink and how much exercise I get.

Thanks Susan and Sandy. I like the idea of writing down the night before what I'm going to eat the next day.
