i'm a pretty sporadic exerciser...exercising in grand gestures rather than the tried and tested small and steady efforts :P
i've been walking home once or twice a week for the last few weeks and that's about it. i'm going to do it this evening cos i only did it once last week. it's about 9 km (5.6 miles).

Kicked butt (mine) with the personal trainer today for 90 minutes. WHEW! If I can catch up on my work I'd like to bike or walk tonight.

fiberlover 06-16-2008 04:30 PM

Today I jogged for 35 minutes, and did my lower body bowflex workout.

plantar fasciitis??

I worked out today again - the Curves workout.

I'm having problems with the in between walking in place it's aggravating my foot and flaring my plantar fasciitis. Anyone have a suggestion of what I can do instead of walking in place to keep my heart rate up?

LisaF 06-16-2008 11:10 PM

emeraldjules - Biking is an excellent alternative because it's no-impact.

A doctor once suggested this to me for plantar fascitis, and it was one of the best suggestions I've ever gotten. Take a 1 liter soda bottle or water bottle, fill it with water, and freeze it completely. (Leave a little bit of room in the bottle because the water will expand when frozen.) Put the frozen bottle on the floor and roll the sole of your foot on it for about 15 minutes. It reduces the inflamation, gently stretches the plantar fascia, and offers some pain relief.

I used to do this once (sometimes twice) every day, and that frozen bottle lived in my freezer.

Emeraldjules - I have chronic foot problems and use two different tapes: Chair Aerobics and Chair Dancing. I got them both via Amazon.com. Yes, biking is a good non impact exercise for you, too.

I did 30 mins on the elliptical yesterday...that is all I managed to squeeze in :(

Today I did 15 mins of weights for my upper body, 50 crunches and 45 mins on the elliptical! So kinda made up for it lol

smyrah 06-17-2008 04:02 PM

fiberlover 06-17-2008 04:13 PM

Then the express version of Cardio Overdrive (25 minutes).

I did not work out today :( but I did do a presentation in frot of a group of High School kids - do I get any points for being nervous?! ;)

Good going peoples!
21 mile bike ride this evening.

fiberlover 06-19-2008 08:42 AM

Forgot to post yesterday :)

Did 1/2 hour walk and later jogged for 35 minutes.

crazycurls 06-19-2008 02:25 PM

I don't think I have posted at all this week. I've done the first two workouts for week four of c25k. I have also done slim in 6. I hurt myself yesterday while I was running. My ankle just suddenly, OUCH! I have no idea what happened. It still hurts a little this morning but not near as bad as last night. I'm taking today off, and will HOPEFULLY start back tomorrow.

emeraldjules 06-19-2008 09:00 PM

Yesterday and Today

I didn't post yesterday - but I did my curves-esque workout :carrot: yesterday
and I did it again today :carrot:

Phew! 90 minutes with the personal trainer again, HRM says 1109 calories burned and I believe it. Tough work. Took the day off yesterday from exercise.

fiberlover 06-20-2008 09:03 AM

FB - I would love a personal trainer! There are those times when I think a gym membership would be fun.

Today I already got my cardio done. Jogged 2.5 miles - took me 37 minutes. Still a slow poke, but I don't care LOL!

TJFitnessDiva 06-20-2008 10:02 AM

I've been really busy for the past week to get online much but I've still been getting in 45 mins on the elliptical and 10 mins on weights for my upper body. :)

I think this afternoon my pool will be ready for me to go swim in too!!! yeay!!

Lori- I love the PT! Hate gyms, but love the training. I'm lucky in that the gym is owned by my neighbors across the street and that the gym is like a half block from my house. It's a serious, tiny little place mostly frequented by muscle men who compete. Dedicated to weight lifting with only 4 machines for cardio, no television, no magazines - you just go there to do it.

We've lived in our house for almost 3 years and I've been watching those fit people longingly for some time. My neighbor noticed I was losing and offered to help me. I love her up! I'm seeing her twice a week and don't go to the gym for cardio unless it's raining terribly (the general membership is only $15.00 a month with the purchase of training sessions so I don't feel wasteful).

Talk about pressure though - with her right across the street and able to see my every move! She knows when I'm biking or walking our dogs, sees when the husband has pizza delivered, notices when the house is lit up all night because I'm working crazily and not sleeping - like a Santa Claus of health, sees when I'm good or bad. I do well under pressure though, I love that she's right there.

Nagged the hub into exercising with me. He's such a lazy boy who loves his Lazyboy.

50 minutes treadmill with weights and stationary bike. Blah. Hopefully I'll use the real bike tomorrow.

brn 06-22-2008 01:04 AM

This week has been short on exercise because of a lung infection. Since I have basicaly spent the week in the recliner I'm going to count grocery shopping as exercise. Tomorrow it won't count but since it was a whole lot more movement than I've had in awhile today it does.

I also spent about an hour in the pool so that counted too.

I'm not to sure how tomorrow will go since it's Sunday and that's my normal off day. If it's a nice cool day I'll try to walk in the yard but if it's hot and very sunny it will be a rest day after all.

fiberlover 06-22-2008 12:10 PM

Hey gang! Hope your weekend is fabulous!

Yesterday DH and I biked for 17 miles. A bit further - we might be biking 25 miles next Saturday, so went a bit more yesterday.

Today I have done 45 minutes of pilates for a changeup. Geez, I forget how hard pilates can be!

FB 06-22-2008 09:47 PM

Evening family bike ride, lovely way to spend a Sunday night.

Losing weight has a lot of side benefits, but starting to ride again is honestly one of my top favorites.
