OT - Need help from some wordsmith(s)
I decided to post this here because I'm way frustrated and you guys always help out.
I am working on a grant app, and I need an acronym ASAP. They usually come to me when I'm working on the application, but not this time.
The program is for an after school program that extends from K-12. I've read tons of research, and one of the main things I'm pushing in the text is that the hours between 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. are really dangerous for kids. On school days, juvenile crime spikes to three times the rate as prior to 3 and after 5, and, of course, the victims of juvenile crime are most frequently juveniles. So my program is going to be called either Project SAFE or Project SAFETY (depending on which produces the better acronym).
I've been brainstorming for a half an hour now, and haven't come up with anything good. Here's the best I got:
A Secure And Functional Environment Teaches Youth
Blech!
I am now thinking I want the 'S' to be 'Supervision,' because that's one of the most essential pieces to keeping kids safe and baby-free (teen pregnancy prevention is one of the key objectives).
So - hook me up with a great acronym, if you would. Or even just a usable verb that starts with "A" I don't want to use the word 'and' if I can avoid it.
Any help would be muchly appreciated!

Laurie, I stink at acronyms, but if you like the word "supervision", could you just substitute "supervised" for "secure"?

Something to think about...the name of this program needs to also be appealing (or at least not embarrassing) to the kids that may be going.....
Other than that, I suck at this kind of thing!

The after school program I work at is called Primetime. I'm pretty sure making sure it's likable to kids to will help.

Thank you so much for taking the time to brainstorm with me! I think I'm going to string a couple of these together and let her make the decision. But if someone's struck by brilliance some time today, please post! Maybe she'll hate the ones I like and choose one that I thought was kind of lame.
And I should have done this at the beginning, but I'll give you a few examples of similar programs with acronymic names. (See? Since my writing tends to be so formal for work, y'all get the goofy, made-up words...)
ATLAS (Athletes Training and Learning to Avoid Steroids)
Promoting Alternative THinking Strategies (PATHS)
And one appropriate for my audience:
Project SHAPE (Students for Health and Physical Education)
Thanks again, everyone, for the creative suggestions!
