Weekly Weigh In: April 28 - May 4

Good Morning Ladies -

Happy to report that I found my groove, and lost 2.2 of the 2.4 I had previously gained. Now I've got to stick with it to finally move towards 30 lbs down!

findingfawn 04-28-2008 08:53 AM

Great job Beth!

I saw 1 pound this week.. I guess it's not a gain so I will be happy with it. 245.

julzchiki 04-28-2008 09:16 AM

I've gained 2 pounds. But, I'm not going to cry over it. It's feedback, not failure. I've been falling back to old habits the last two weeks. My body obviously doesn't like my old habits so I'll be making healthier new ones. Today is a new day, another opportunity to make those adjustments.

barbygirl43 04-28-2008 09:41 AM

I'm down pounds this week. I buckled back down on the exercise and didn't have those out of my control meals. I'm at 253.6.

suzie76 04-28-2008 10:51 AM

Starting over again...back up to 233 from 226-ugh!!!!!

Julz, great positive attitude!

Great job everyone!
Sherry

I've been out of here for a while, but I've got my head back on straight again, and I kind of feel like I might be headed for Onderland soon, and I'd like to be with some people who know how awesome that will be.

And for the record, I lost a pound this week. :)

mountain mama 04-28-2008 11:40 AM

I lost 1.5 pounds since last monday. I'm aiming for 3 pounds this week!

Parveen 04-28-2008 01:55 PM

I thought I lost, but weight is the same, I weigh every morning, which is not good. But hopign this week is better. my stomach is shrinking, I can notice it and DH noticed it too, so that is good!

gaia3 04-28-2008 03:25 PM

Smiling_Sara 04-28-2008 07:40 PM

234. Down 4 lbs. It's about time. Been at 238 for about 3 weeks. Hopefully this trend will continue.

Darkblue 04-28-2008 08:25 PM

Down two more pounds to 230! I am looking forward to seeing the 220s again, for the first time in three years.

Halichick 04-28-2008 08:52 PM

I was up 1 lb from last week. I'm chalking it up to water retention because I hold onto water like a camel in the desert LOL I'm going for my weigh-in tomorrow, I'll post the results when I get home.

Beverlyjoy 04-29-2008 07:30 AM

Finally - my body let go of some weight - I've lost 2 pounds. I am getting so excited. I am really close to Onederland.

Halichick 04-29-2008 09:36 AM

:carrot: Go Beverly!! Onederland is just around the corner!!

gaia3 04-29-2008 10:34 AM

Thanks for the welcome, borntofly and congratulations on your loss!!! :bravo:

Beverlyjoy, you must be really excited about getting back in the "ones"...good job!

Darkblue! That is exciting! Every "decade" is a milestone. I try to "lose weight" ten pounds at a time...thinking about losing 145 is just too overwhelming, so I just "lose" 10 at time. Can hardly wait until I'm down as low as you! (It's all relative, isn't it?)

Halichick, I don't know what plan you are on, but if you'd change "diets" for a few days, it might "knock" you out of your plateau. South Beach for a few days (which is all I can stand of it. lol) gets me going again. Then I go back to my "regular" diet.

Beverlyjoy 04-29-2008 10:39 AM

Thanks! Gaia!

mountain mama 04-29-2008 11:33 AM

Gaia3: Good idea about switching diets for a couple of days. I might give that a whirl and see how it goes!

I had been staying at the same weight for the past couple weeks and I found that changing my workout helped. I lost .5 yesterday. Not alot, but hey! I'm happy.

I had been doing the biggets loser cardio max and I think I was gaining some muscle or something, my weight started going up. And yesterday I triedthe 3 mile WATP dvd for the first time, and I lost weight. I guess I should be mixing it up more, eh?!

fiberlover 04-30-2008 07:24 AM

Good morning everyone! Quick check in before I head out for the last day of my conference (thank goodness).

Lost 1.6 this week :carrot:
Had 2 weeks of great losses in a row, it's so exciting LOL!

BrandNewJen 04-30-2008 09:31 AM

This what I'm talking about--mixing things up with your body--keeping it "off routine" whether by changing exercises or calories/carbs/fats--whatever--seems to cause a weight plateau to stop.

You know, the whole "calories in, calories used = weight loss" BS is getting on my nerves. I think it's a LIE!! If it were true, then why is it that when people drop their calorie intake way down, they stop losing weight? Why is it that when they increase their work outs, they often stop losing weight? (Of course, we know that muscle weighs more than fat, but not a couple of pounds a week more!) Why do older people have a harder time losing weight than younger? I think the whole "calorie" thing is crazy. It's like saying one gallon of gas = 15 miles....well-yes and no. If you are driving an air compression car, one gallon of gas=100 miles. If you are driving a semi-truck, one gallon= 5 miles!

So if you have an efficient body, 3500 taken in may be the equivalent of another person taking in 5000 (they "burn" more 'gas'). But how the heck do you, without paying a lot of money to have tests done, figure out how many calories your body actually uses in day, and what do you do when when it changes (and it does), and why does the calories your body uses change from week to week? Just watching Biggest Loser, you can see what I'm talking about. People that give it everything they've got, do exactly what the trainers tell them to do, often gain a pound;women working twice as many hours as the men but losing half the weight the men lose (thank goodness for male ego, though, becuase that is ultimately what lost them the money! They didn't think a woman could beat them!);people "cheating" a LOT before weigh in but showing a huge loss at weigh-in that week. Just like "real life" here. We all have delt with it--seen it happen, and not understanding what the heck is happening either get depressed because our efforts appear to be for nothing or get over confident and think we can eat more and then end up falling off our plan.

I think that seriously, the scientists, weight loss "experts", etc, really are just "guessing". And quite frankly, each of us loses weight differently--each of has to find his/her own "program" and each of us struggles to get over plateaus and difficulites that if the science were better we may not have to go through at all.

Okay, rant over. :D

BrandNewJen 05-01-2008 01:22 PM

Agreed--- we all DO lose weight differently. I've looked back over my weight loss the past 4 months... and I DEFINIATELY have super high days (off track days) and I think those big jumps are what helps spur the metabolism to not get used to things. I'm in NO WAY eating "under" my calories-- I'm keeping mine under 2,000--- it can range, but anywhere under 2,000 is where I like them. But easter, birthdays, "pizza days", etc etc etc... I definitely have gone way over points sporadically through my diet. I have been steadily losing about 2 pounds a week doing so... however that works!!!! I'm not complaining!

I just have to tell myself that it doesn't give me an excuse to PURPOSEFULLY do it... b/c who knows what could happen then? Danger danger... I'm doing what I'm doing and it's working for me now... if I plateau, then I'll rethink the strategy. But, heck, I REALLY enjoyed that chocolate cake in the meantime! ;)

mountain mama 05-01-2008 01:27 PM

I lost .5 today again. So thats good. one and a half pounds till I have EXACTLY 100 pounds to lose to reach my goal.

It's so weird, 30 pounds ago I would never had imagined myself being so committed to this lifestyle and NOT stressing day in and day out about it. I think that I have ALMOST successfully created some good habits!! YAY!!

And to respond to the stuff going on above, I think that what doctors or 'specialists' say may be good for a guideline, but like everything.. you need to figure out what's right for body. It's not a black a white world :) We are all doing great, and stick to what works for us.. witha little advice here and there!

I have not reported my weight loss for the past couple of weeks as my father was ill in hospital after having a heart attack. I was pleasantly surprised when I have hopped on the scales seeing as my eating the past couple of weeks have not been as "clean" as I normally am. I have lost 4lbs in the past 2 weeks. Dad is now thankfully on the road to recovery. I have also reached a couple of milestones as well. I am now classed by the BMI as being overweight and the other being I am now in the land of onederland.

xGurlyGrlx 05-03-2008 07:30 PM

Purple - CONGRATULATIONS!!! I am sorry to hear about your father but am glad he is doing well now!

I lost 1.2lbs today. Not bad considering its TOM.

LisaF 05-04-2008 09:33 AM

I'm down 1 pound this week. I'm happy with it, but disappointed in myself, because I know it would have been more if I had just done my cardio. I'm committeed to making the Month of May a time to get those exercise habits well and truly entrenched. Hopefully I'll feel better for it, even if the scale doesn't reflect it.

Lisa
