Thanks, Jen, for setting up a sugar-free thread for continuing support. After my 14-day sugar-free experiment, I think I may decide to continue my anti-sugarness and join the thread!
Day 1 report - Wow! I didn't realize how much sugar creeped into my life. I knew I didn't keep it in the house and had to make a conscious decision to buy it, and I thought that I was fighting just those decisions. Not so. My husband is a pop drinker, and I generally can let those sit in my fridge forever. But I sip his all of the time. In my mind, I was only doing it occasionally. But once I decided that I wasn't going to do it, I noticed how many times I was inclined to do it thoughtlessly. And I do allow my kids to have some cereals that are high in sugar. I never ate a bowl of it, but I do dip my hand in it - apparently a lot, if the number of times I had to stop myself today is any indication. And I brought my 12YO son to the laundromat with me, and he bought pop and a candy bar from the vending machine (which he's NOT supposed to do). He literally pushed a piece of the candy bar in my face and asked if I wanted some. I was actually completely repulsed by it. I have been thinking bad things about sugar all day, and couldn't imagine actually eating it. I hope that holds for the fourteen days - or at least the first seven or so. So, how are my fellow sugar deniers doing on their fourteen day challenge? I intend to report every evening so that I can maintain accountability. I hope to hear from you two from time to time as well! |
This. is. awesome.

Thanks, Cephalopod!
Day TWO is over! I dreamed about eating cookies uncontrollably last night, which crushed my dream self because I thought I'd ruined things already, but I have decided not to count dream cookies. So - onto Day three. The scale was kind this morning as well. Hopefully, it will be as generous tomorrow. |
congrats! Keep it up!
