Fruits do have a lot of valuable nutritional properties - particularly berries, citrus and "red" fruit like red grapefruit and papaya. Trying to work in one fruit a day (even if you mix them into a smoothie or blend up some blueberries into a turkey burger) would be GREAT! If not, well, you're doing awesome in the vegetable area (which some people struggle with) and at least you are eating SOME fruit. Good work!

I think it's okay. You are getting lots of fiber and nutrients from your veggies, and you are getting some fruit. I usually keep my fruit to a serving a day, never more than two, for optimal weight loss. It is good for you but has a lot of sugar. I do try to make sure I get that one serving in to, ya know, keep things "moving."

I think its fine as well. I think the vegetables are more important than the fruit (although eventually you might try to get at least 1 serving a day of fruit). Be careful with those avocados - they are very calorie rich!

I totally agree with Glory87. Drink a smoothie, homemade of course. You can make it to your liking with natural sugar coming from berries. If you no not like berries, how about grapes, cranberries, cherries or dried cranberries, raisins or any dried fruit in oatmeat or a homemade trail mix. Fruit especially berries have far too much nutritional value to do without.

I eat very little to no fruit because I'm allergic to just about all of them except some citrus, apples, and grapes. Which sounds like a lot, but it's still not a ton of variety and can get boring very quickly.

I think that as long as you're getting the veggies in and if you're really worried take a multivitamin.

I went for a long time eating no to little fruit because honestly they were a binge item for me.

I think fruit is great. It is low calorie, low fat, lots of nutrients and very tasty. I probably get about 8 servings of fruit per day along with 10+ servings of veggies per day.

Also, depending on what fruit you are eating, you may be getting more servings than you think. A banana is generally 2 servings, large pieces of fruit are also 2 servings, etc.

Does it matter for what exactly? I mean I don't really fruit because most of it has too many carbohydrates and being diabetic, that's just not acceptable. For the first year of my diet I didn't really eat fruit, some strawberries here and there. It was really hard for me as I loved bananas, oranges, tangerines, all high sugar items. I am used to it now and as long as it is in a very small portion I'll have some occasionally. The last year I've added an apple a day, a green apple. I am reconsidering this snack at the moment because of the sugar.

Anyway, I eat tons of veggies a day and I take a multivitamin. I have lost the weight without fruit and as far as my doctor as shared with me I am not suffering from any kind of deficiency.

Well, what is your goal?

Are you just trying to shed some weight, or are you aiming for a healthier body? Fruits and veggies are essential to most diets to maintain a certain level of health, and over time, you can become deficient.

If you're healthy now and aren't completely cutting out fruits and veggies, I'd say it's not horrendously bad, but it might be something to be mindful of in the future. If you're aiming for overall health and not just weight loss, fruits and veggies are important to a certain extent.

Well certain fruits (like blueberries) have tons of antioxidants, then there is vitamin c from citrus fruits, potassium from bananas, etc. Fruits do have a lot of nutrients so I'd recommend eating them. If you aren't eating a lot of fruit, I'd definitely recommend a multivitamin, which is good advice anyway.

Honestly, if you REALLY just have a hard time eating fruits for whatever reason, be in personal taste or cost issues or whatever, I would say that a good multi-vitamin should make up for any loss there.

Sneak some in anywhere you can, though! Throw some strawberries into cereal in the morning, drink some good quality apple juice, make a smoothie with a banana and some fresh blueberries every once in a while. I wouldn't stress too much about it, just be mindful of nutritional needs and fill in where you can, and invest in a good multi-vitamin.
