Default Are boiled eggs a good snack?

I'm thinking they are for the protein. I like them, so I might try to eat some occassionally. Sound like a good idea?

I love 'em. Great protein and potassium source, and neligible sugars and fats. Only 13 calories. But kind of depends on what plan you are following. They are pretty high in sodium and cholesterol.

They are a big part of my plan. I use them for snacks often, great protein punch, and when I get bored, I make deviled eggs with 'em.

Careful... I'd have to check, but I think they're more than 13 calories if you eat the whole egg (rather than just the egg white).

I used to eat boiled egg whites, I would just take the yoke out. They were tolerable! LOL

I believe a whole large egg is around 70 calories, if I recall correctly. I used to eat them all the time, until I got a "bad egg"...now I have to wait to get over that before I can eat 'em again, LOL!

oooh, yikes, Cassie! I've been having a couple of whole boiled eggs for breakfast lately (it's just the easiest thing I can think of for breakfast... I'm not much of a morning person), and I've often been afraid of getting a "bad egg".... I'd be scarred of eggs, so what would I have for breakfast then?

They are 70 calories an egg if you eat the whole thing...I don't know without the yolk but I imagine still more than 13 calories. I use them for protein sometimes, but they are kinda high in fat for my plan, so you'll have to read the nutritional info and decide if they are right for you. I like to cut them up in salads for a protein boost.

According to Fitday, one large egg white is 16 calories. I eat the whites only and stuff them with hummus.

Default Oops

My bad - the chart I was looking at said it was 13 calories for 1 tablespoon chopped - not whole. Thank goodness for more diligent posters

Sheila- Stuffing an egg white with hummus is a fantastic idea! Sometimes, the hummus/veggie snack needs a little shake up. Thanks! I'm glad I read this thread!!
