  • I'm jumping on this "mini-goal" bandwagon. I just love the concept of it!

For those of you who set goals for yourself, do you reward yourself when you meet the goal? What rewards have worked for you?

(Of course, I imagine that a big ol' piece of chocolate cake with chocolate frosting would be a BAD reward! LOL)
  • Hi there. I just answered this in the other thread that you started. And I answered you about being able to lose 100 lbs.

I DID reward myself for every 10 lbs lost. I wrote it in a journal. And like you guessed - food was out of the question.

The first 10 lbs was a pocket book, the next ten was a new pair of slippers, the next was a new wallet. It was FUN having something to look forward to. I loved dropping those 10 and I loved and thoroughly enjoyed my new purchases.
  • I buy myself a little treat for each 10 pounds. I have gotten myself:
    a new CD
    new workout tape
    Crest white strips
    manicure

All little pampering treats! It's fun trying to think of new things.
  • I gave myself a reward at 25 pounds (a new set of red dishes I had been eyeing for a long time) and plan to continue to reward myself for each 25 pound milestone. Have not decided what my next reward will be though.
  • I hardly ever do the reward thing. I always mean to but then I get focused on the next 10 pounds and I tell myself that I'll reward myself when I get to that one. It's a vicious cycle. I really need to buy myself some stuff!!!
  • I plan to reward myself every 20lbs. Then with a big reward--maybe a cruise when I meet my ultimate goal. First reward will be a less expensive purse from Coach. I like to reward myself in general. I just got an "A" in my first class in grad school and I rewarded myself with a Coach wristlet.
  • I have a rewards package I typed up for every 10% lost. I am 5 lb. away from my 10% package and I cannot wait! I never buy myself anything at all, not even clothing, but go overboard for everyone else in the family...so this is a way that I can buy myself some nice stuff and feel no guilt. I started with basic things that went into each package: jeans and an exercise outfit that fit nice at that weight. Then I added in some things for the first package that I have been wanting (a purse and wallet, Jillian Michaels DVDs, etc). I left extra spaces to write in things I want for the later packages. Now I know these things are coming, I just have to get there. It's been great motivation, because normally I would not buy myself any of these things!

Right now the Biggest Loser cookbook is in the top of my closet, waiting until i reach 10% lost.
  • I'm planning to buy a pair of Via Spiga sandals this summer! They'll be so much more comfy when I'm down around 230 anyways! I have a shoe fettish. It's the best reward I can think of to get another pair!
  • Clothes! I've needed to cause well otherwise I'd be in really baggy clothes. Including boots recently! I hadn't done boots in .. like... childhood lol.
  • I buy clothes as my main reward. I might as well show off my weightloss and not hide behind clothes a size or two larger than I really am And though some discourage it, I sometimes go out for a nice steak dinner for a reward. I think food rewards are OK if you don't go overboard.
  • I did WW and paid myself ( put money aside) for banked points AND pounds lost. I saved enough to buy an eliptical for the house

    Good luck!
  • I have not thought about rewarding a goal. I should do that for myself.

How do you get the pictures by your name and the timeline for your weight loss goals?
  • I think I might have figured out the picture under the name thing.
  • At 30 pounds I bought myself a pair of very expensive shoes, which was great because losing that much weight made shoes fit better! But I haven't figured out a final reward, a dress I think. You know what might help is if for ever 5 or 10 pounds lost you put $10 away for your final reward, I just thought of it know and I think I will start doing it! Good LUck!
  • At 25 lbs., I bought some new cookbooks, new undies, and a few items of clothing. For 50 lbs., I am going to buy an Aerolatte and a Toddy along with an assortment of sf flavored syrups.
I do a food reward every week, if I have stayed on plan, I get a piece of dark chocolate on the weekend.
