I need somebody to talk to who understands

  • I am almost 52, kids moved away, my husband and I have both been suffering with medical problems and have turned into couch potatoes. I mean it..it is sick. I am going to pulmanary specialist in another state now and hopefully I will get some answers, but right now tonight, I am sitting here after gaining over 55 lbs last year and I need somebody to talk to and share stores with.
My skinny friends don't get it...any body want to chat with me sometime??

    Have you formulated a plan??

Yes....I have been quite ill for the past year and totally got out of any exercise. I was on massive steroids and gained 55 lbs. I didn't want, just came home tired and depressed. I ate and ate and blamed it on the meds...but it was not all the meds....
I am trying to detox from sugar and white flour and stick to whole grains, veggies, apples and protein. Any suggestions...and thank you for responding to me.
  • you will be in my thoughts and i know you can lose any weight you put your mind to losing! i have almost quit so many times because i "failed". but the more times you try the more likley you are to succeed, right? i really feel like this time will be it! ha! good luck and post whenever you need support! it helps!
  • Yes, we understand and would love to chat with you.

I was the biggest couch potato that ever lived. Literally. Now, I hardly ever use my couch. Really. It's hard to keep me down. So know that is is most DEFINITELY possible to reverse the situation.

Gettting the weight off will greatly reduce your medical woes, I'm sure.

Your plan sounds like a good one. Although I loved the taste of some of the foods I have (mostly) given up, they were doing me no good whatsoever and therefore I FINALLY realized that I am better off without them. I have ADDED in though foods that I absolutely love and adore, probably more so then the ones I was eating before. Healthy, low cal DELICIOUS foods.

Good luck to you. I KNOW you CAN do this. I know it for sure.
  • I totally understand. I have been in your shoes, too. Remember - every day is a new beginning.

It will "click in" and you'll be able to start and carry on.
  • Jannibanni! We understand so much of what you're going through. Please come chat with us each day and we'll all share stories and help support each other on this journey.
  • We can all relate to where you are. Please post often and "chat" often. There is a lot of support here!
  • Hi Jan! I just turned 52 & both DH & I turned into couch potatoes over the years. Don't really remember what happened to us but I think it started when he had lymphoma & a bone marrow transplant. I remember that's when I started to gain weight and was never able to take it off until recently.

I'm new to this site too. I signed up last year but I guess I forgot about it. Anyways, I've been looking around at all the wonderful information on the various diet plans. I've been doing Medifast mostly but want to transition over to something that will become my eating style for a long time. LOTS of plans out there & so many of them have great things to offer. I think it's important to look them over & find ones that you think you can stick with & try them out. If they bomb, try another one. Well, I'd better stop rambling here! Welcome to 3FC & I'll see you around the boards!

I LOVE these little ticker things. I'm using one from tickerfactory.com 'cause I really like the little snowman for January, but I found a great tutorial right here to use the great 3FC tickers. Try it out & if you have questions just post & I'm sure one of these great gals will help out!
  • Glad to see you here and happy to chat too. I'm 47 and feeling "the change." I sure had more energy when I was thinner and younger and more hormally balanced.
  • Welcome! I think this site is one thing that has made me more successful in losing weight this time. There is support for any type of diet/lifestyle change you want to do. You can easily find people going through the same thing as you.

  • I think you'll find yourself right at home here. We can all understand what you are going through, and this is an amazing community of friends to be a part of!

Post often, so we can get to know each other better, OK?
