Even 2400 is kind of high, they have been fighting to get that 2400 recommendation lowered.

If you try to keep it under 1500 you won't have the problems with water retention. I know from living my life on a daily basis how hard this is, but if I don't, my ankles & feet pop.

just a list of foods to avoid if you are trying to cut salt:
frozen dinners
canned soups
salad dressing
sauces
pickles, olives, anything in brine
chips
boxed noodle or rice mixes such as ramen, mac & cheese, lipton noodles, rice a roni etc
canned veggies--choose frozen instead
boneless skinless chicken breasts that come frozen in a big package of like 4 pounds--these are soaked in BRINE first & then quick frozen. It's better to buy your own family pack of fresh breasts, season them yourself, and them freeze them to use as needed.

Also, whoever said sometimes the "light" versions of things have more sodium is right on target. They do that to make it taste better.
