Cravings

For some strange reason i am craving greasy foods today.. greasy hamburgers, fried fish, etc.. and i want it juicy and loaded with grease... wth? lol... i have been eating veggies and chicken breast all week which has no grease really, and doing pretty well, but do our bodies Need grease?

I have found that sometimes I think I want that stuff, but if I eat it I don't feel very good. I think my body is getting used to the healthier food choices and if I put "junk" in, I feel like junk.

You're probably just craving comfort food.

hmmm maybe JUST chicken breat & veg, you might need some "good" fats too??!? maybe sautee your veg in a smidgen of olive oil and garlic? something like that? we can't do without ANY fat :(

I have that same craving sometimes. I give in, but just a little. I usually allow myself a treat of a regular order of tater tots from Sonic. I don't have it very often anymore because I really don't think its worth it, but if I'm going to do this for the rest of my life I have to learn to manage my food and that includes fried food.

My strategy is to determine the foods I absolutely can't live without and then find ways to make them healthier.

I'm spending a lot of time on different cooking websites like foodtv.com in the Calorie Commando recipes, I love Healthy Decadence from the Discovery Health Channel. There are MANY people out there slimming down traditional "fried" chicken or fish recipes. Healthygirl.com has interesting stuff, too. (I hope I'm not breaking any rules posting these sites!! If I did, please forgive me!)

Permanent weight loss is a lifestyle change. Just deleting fried chicken from your world until you lose weight isn't really a permanent answer. Finding a new and healthy way to enjoy oven fried chicken seems like a permanent solution to me.

JMHO. :-)

You might just be craving these foods because of habit. You may also be craving a little variety. Juicy foods are far more abundant in the plant world than the animal one. But if you're craving healthy fats, Trazey had some good suggestions. Other sources of healthy fats are oily fish like salmon, avocados, nuts, flax seed, etc.

My guess, though, based entirely on my own experience, is that it's a desire to go back to bad habits. Finding food that is equally enjoyable - or even moreso - is probably the easiest way to handle it, as ggmugsy has suggested.
