Hi! I'm new
Hi,
I was very happy to find this forum. I definitely need support in weight loss, and hope to be able to help others as well. To reach my "fantasy" goal weight I need to lose 105 pounds. I've just started and lost 3lbs...well, it's a start. Since today is 1/16, I think I've started over about 12 times since the New Year. This year is it! I resolve to be under 200 lbs by Christmas-a pound a week should be realistic, right? I'm thirty two, married and the mother of a two and a half year old son. You would think I'd be thinner from chasing him around! One of the main reasons I want to lose weight is to keep up with him and set a good example for him of healthy eating habits. I've had problems with food since my late teens, but have been seriously overweight for about ten years. I'm addicted to chocolate and pizza....I don't think I"m alone! I've messed up in the past by giving up entirely when I slip up. This year, if I mess up, I'm just getting right back on. I'm not following a specific diet, just eating sensible portions of healthy foods (most of the time!) I've tried weight watchers, but I don't like counting points I know if works for many people, but I could not stick to it. Thanks for reading. I hope I didn't ramble too much :) Sherry |
Hey Sherry!
Sounds like you have a good plan going! You've already lost 3 pounds. :) Everyone here is so supportive, I hope you enjoy it! Chelle |
Welcome, Sherry!!! I think you'll like this group. And, congrats on getting back on that horse!

thank you for the support
Hi,
Thanks so much for the welcome and support. My high is 250-not pregnancy either. I was 217 when I got pregnant, gained 17 pounds with pregnancy , and lost that quickly plus ten more. Then I developed post partum depression-the medication I am on has contributed to weigh gain. It interferes with your ability to recognize that you're full, so you just keep eating more....sigh!. I had mainted in the mid to high 230's until this past October. Then I found out the company I worked for was shutting down, my son was hospitalized with croup, and we had to have our 10 year old cat put to sleep. Add all that to Thanksgiving-Christmas holiday eating and fifteen pounds packed on so fast! So I'm job hunting, and home with the refrigerator. This is making things so much harder. I've already messed up today :( Thanks for listening, Sherry |
Sherry:
I have a magnet on my fridge that says: Diet Rule #1: never weigh more than your refrigerator. If you're really serious about losing weight, you have to have a little better plan than just to say "I'll eat sensible portions of healthy food most of the time" You really have to plan each day with a well-balanced ratio of food, so you can keep up with your 2 1/2 year old son. You really need to have satisfaction with what you are eating, or else you'll just keep straying to look at 'other' foods. Look over the vast array of eatlng plans that are out there and pick the best one for yourself and your family. It's bad enough to have to battle cravings and appetite surges, you don't want to be battling your own diet regime. So pick a plan you feel is best for you and join us. Best of luck to you. |
Hi Suzie1
Just wanted to pop in and introduce myself. I am an old member who is once again crawling back on the wagon trying to get my weight to go in the right direction (down!). I know that you will love it here. There are so many wonderful people.
Take one moment at a time, and come see us often! HUGS! M'Chelle |
