Amazing victory

In every diet I've ever been on, I do well unto some big occasion and then I blow it and end up quitting. Yesterday, we had a housefull of guests with food everywhere and for some reason, I didn't eat one bite that was off plan.. not even one chip! I made my daughter's cake and didn't lick the frosting. I went to bed last night feeling so triumphant I almost couldn't sleep. That feeling was so much sweeter than the frosting would have been. I want to remember this for a long time.

Thanks for letting me share this! I don't know anyone who would understand what a big deal this is for me.

blessings,
Samantha:dance:

Ok, I've been waiting all summer to post this NSV...

I ran my first half marathon today!! :carrot:

I did it in 2:32:52, and I didn't walk at all, so I'm quite happy! And hey, I actually didn't collapse and die on the boardwalk in the bright bright sun!

Lisa Marie, Great job!! I'm just being nosey here, but did you decide to take the job as track coach (or something like that)? I remember reading that you were considering it, but I haven't seen where you decided what to do. Just curious, I know you would be very inspirational to young adults needing to get fit.

Sam, that's wonderful. Keep it up. We understand how great that feels. :)

:cheer2::cheer2: WTG LisaMarie!! :cheer2::cheer2:

One of my goals is to someday run a half, you're such a great inspiration! (I can only run about 3 miles continuously right now.)

What incredible NSVs! Lisa - A HUGE CONGRATULATIONS!!! You've worked so hard for this amazing accomplishment!

Samantha - I so know what a victory you had! In fact, I'm a little jealous of it, because even months into this, I still struggle with in-my-face temptation like that. Incredible stuff - although I do want to add the caveat that even if you had slipped off plan a bit, we would have been very proud of you for getting back on plan the next day, as all of us slip up occasionally. Great work!

My NSV - I have been wanting to post compliment NSVs since I started this - only people just haven't been cooperating with me. Today, I received my second non-family weight loss compliment! And just on this board, I want to say - It is about time they all started noticing!

I wore some pants today that previously were a bit tight, and now they are too lose. I had to keep pulling them up. I'm amazed because I've only lost about 14lbs. It kinda sucks because now I am in between sizes again (between 24 and 22), but I guess I will have to get used to our friend Mr. Belt. lol.

I love this -- it really says it all, doesn't it? We're trading eating whatever we want for a feeling that's sooooo much better, for a LIFE that's so much better!! Congratulations on being so committed, Samantha!!

rakel -- congrats on the loose pants -- wonderful feeling, huh? :)

LaurieDawn -- so glad you're getting some well-deserved non-family compliments!!

gale -- don't worry, in no time you'll be upping that mileage. And 3 miles is nothing to sneeze at anyway! Do you know how many people couldn't even consider running 3 miles?

jtammy and everyone else -- thank you so much for congratulating me on my half! And yes, I did take the assistant cross country coaching position and it has been wonderful. It's making me VERY busy already, though, and of course there are some fast boys who don't take me all that seriously...but I think some of the girls are listening to me and they're really learning about pacing from me. When this old lady passes them all up because they wear themselves out and have to stop and walk, it's a good lesson for them!

I have to add to this already long post -- I looked at the race results and I finished somewhere in the top half of the pack. 11,000 something out of about 25,000 runners. My husband finished 650th or something, but for me, I'm just excited to be in the top half!! I was 875th in my division (35-39 year old females, of which there were about 1600). My husband was 100th in his. It really does feel pretty amazing to have done this, and to have done reasonably well...to have pushed myself to get a certain time and actually achieve it.

OMG Lisa!!! That is so great!!!! I'm SOOOOO excited for you!!!!!

Congratulations everyone on there success it is really great to know other people are making progress. Just need to hang on. I wish this was a "My pants are loser on me" nsv but when I went to san diego this weekend with my family I was really sick and it was hot and humid, I still managed to keep up with my husband and lil boy walking up and down the hills and also up and down all the stairs. For two day in a row:)

I know that if I had not been working out for the past 6 weeks that I would not have been able to keep up at all and while I was sick too :)

I have a good Nsv, Sunday and Monday I went hiking on some trails near my house( nothing too steep, but there were some hills), and before I would have been all sweaty and tired, I walked 2 hrs both days and could have gone on, but dd got tired. We plan on going back weekly until DD gets used to the walk( one trail has 5.2 miles one way), so i am feeling pretty good, before I would have gone back in 20 minutes, plus the steep hills, I would ask help with from hubby , no more I just jogged up.

My NSV is for this past week - and it has to do with starting each day the right way! For me - the beginning of the day "sets the tone" - so a bad choice breakfast usually snowballs into an eating-fest for the entire day.

I had 7 good breakfasts this week, and I'm looking forward to 7 more this week!!

And even though I only lost a pound, I feel less bloated & gross.

modkittn 09-04-2007 08:45 AM

I went clothes shopping this weekend and bought pants that were a size 8 and tops that were all mediums. When I was at my highest, I was in 16Ws and 1X tops!

Gale02 09-05-2007 09:17 PM

Yeah buddy! http://www.runningforums.com/uploads...ananadance.gif I bought jeans yesterday and bought a size 16 (no W or anything) with NO STRETCH in them! This is the first time in... 5 years? I've owned a pair of jeans with not a stitch of spandex in them. I love it! :D

royalsfan1 09-06-2007 08:21 AM

I had to finally take my rings in for sizing, yesterday. I figure, if I lose 40 pounds and it needs to be done again that will be less expensive than replacing them if I lose them. I've come VERY close several times...once on a roller coaster! So, anyway, they WERE size 7.5....they're NOW size 5.5!!!!! He said he'd go to a 5!!!! But, I was leery because I'm afraid of swelling on some days and them being uncomfortable. He didn't think it was an issue but he deferred to me because he didn't think 5.5 would be big enough to just fall off...he just thinks that when I lose 40 more pounds I'll likely be back. :) Who cares??? 5.5....that's GREAT!!!!
