What a blessing you are! I actually came on here to look for a post on measuring...and to make one if I couldn't find what I was looking for. I was wondering WHAT to measure and you've answered that question. Thank you so much and congratulations on losing in spite your injury!

Great advice, Katrina. :cp:

I'm in my 4th week of healthy eating and doing really well but haven't been seeing the progress that I wanted from the scale. I have had a couple of NSVs (my belly doesn't touch the steering wheel anymore and my tight capris are falling off) so I know that I am making progress. I didn't take my measurements in the beginning (wish I had) but I just took them yesterday.

Thanks for sharing with us. Measurements are a great indicator of progress even if the scale doesn't move for a couple of weeks.

I measure everything. (I didn't think of under the breasts though-- that's a good idea.) I measure it all though-- ankle, knee, thigh, hips/butt, lower stomach, waist/rib area, around breasts/ back, neck, upper arm, forearm, wrist. You wouldn't think much of measuring your neck and such but it does show loss there too.

I just finished reading "YOU: on a diet" and the book talks a lot about the importance of taking measurements. Especially the measurement of the stomach. That is where all the organs live and where the most danger lies. We have all heard how dangerous it is to have belly fat.

The book says that the ideal waist measurement for women is 32 1/2" or less and 35" or less for men. I have 10" to lose off my belly before I will be in normal, healthy range! :o

I took my measurements when I began this new plan on July 1st. In 8 days I will measure again and I'm sure planning on seeing results.
