Had to tell you this because I know you can all relate to being thinner and most of you can relate to being cheap.

We spend a lot of time at a lake. The swimming suits I wore last summer don't fit anymore (in the good way - too big). So I went garage saleing and bought some tops and thought I'd just wear those with a pair of swim shorts that I have that are too big, but hey - they were new last year, so they'll be fine, right? I also found about a 12 year old swimsuit in a box in the basement that fit. Good to go.

The first trip to the lake, I wore the one piece. Turns out elastic just doesn't hold up like it used to, so after the suit got wet the legs no longer had any spring in them. Not good. That suit went the trip.

Wore the halter top and swim shorts the next trip. Discovered diving is not a good idea unless you want to hold onto the shorts that are about three sizes too big. No problem. I'll just go down the boat ladder into the water, right? That worked the last trip.

Now, evidently, the bike riding and the jogging are firming up some stuff, because I've only lost a few pounds since the last trip, but this trip the darn shorts fell off when I went down the ladder. My kids are laughing their butts off and DH just shakes his head and says - for the 50th time - go buy a damn swim suit!

So...........I went to K-mart to do that and yes, you guessed it, there are no swimsuits. School supplies. Jeans. Sweater sets. It's 94 degrees today and it's the middle of July, but no swimsuits! Guess I'll go cut the waist band of the swim shorts and take the elastic in a few inches.

The whole darn thing has just been a giggle and a half. Got me thinking how many times I've been miserable because my swimsuit didn't fit - the other way. Got me thinking we all probably have funny stories about how we just don't seem to notice we're not the same bodies we used to be.

And of course - I don't need to tell you this - the first place I looked for a swimsuit was in the women's department. I just automatically go there and then have to re-direct myself. How long do you think it will take me to figure out what department to shop in?

LOL! Id be thrilled if something was too big!

I'd be happy to just be able to wear a swim suit without looking horrible. Let alone wear a swim suit that used to fit, that's now wayyyy too big...

I bought a new swimsuit this year, but I left it at work last week, and I went late night hot-tubbing with a friend -- and the only bathing suit I could find was the one I wore in middle school!! My friend said, "I can't believe you wore that when you were 12!!" It's actually a little big too.

That's great, Harpo!!! I'll bet you looked really good in it, too!

I've got a story - perhaps not "funny haha" but funny weird. My legs and hips have always been pretty darn small. I carry all my weight in my tummy. So, in order to get pants that fit my stomach my legs and hips would always be floating in yards of excess fabric! Well, now when I go to put on my pants it never fails. I feel them slide up and hit my thighs and think to myself "There is no way these are going on, today" but they do...and easily! I've just never had the experience of my pants touching my legs before they come up over my hiney and tummy. Now, I guess I put my pants on just like everyone else! It's nice to start getting things back into a more proper proportion!

I was laughing out loud on this one. This is funny...and in a good way too!! This isn't really all that funny (well it was to me) but I have not been able to change my mindset yet either because I don't feel like I have lost enough weight to really make that much difference (because I still have so far to go). So, I have hung on to most of my clothing that I have been wearing for a long time. Well, this past week I had to clean my closet out a LOT because everything I tried on I was swimming in! I looked downright tacky - like a bag lady! It struck me funny that I wanted to walk out of the house like that.

I haven't lost enough yet to have any cute stories. I certainly hope to have the swimming suit problem next year. Right now I'm swimming in shorts and a t-shirt.

However, if the powers that be at stores are already filling the aisles with back to school crap, try Lands End online for cute swimming suits. They've got really cute stuff in a million different sizes.

I don't have any "cute" stories. Really, I have had pants nearly fall off. My wedding ring fell off. I recently bought a sterling silver temporary band to use instead of my wedding ring for a while.

I hear you on all fronts. It's funny, we wait so long for the summer to start and then when it does start, boom, come July 4th you can't buy clothes for it any longer.

I bought a swimsuit last week, first time in over a decade and a half. I got one greatly reduced at Macy's Department store. They didn't have many, but I did get a decent one. They had some absolute beauties for close to $100.00. But I am new to wearing a swimsuit and didn't feel like spending the big bucks. I bought one that they had on sale 1/2 price for $34.00.

I spent $100 on a Miraclesuit last year, I wore it twice, now it is baggy... I wanted to cry but I rather it be baggy than too small There are very few things I'd spend $100 on but if you are going to be wearing minimal clothing outside, I think spending some money on a bathing suit is worth it.

Tracy, LOL, I can relate. The first time we went to the lake this summer, I wore the swimsuit I bought about 1 and a half yrs. ago when I had lost my first 35 lbs. (It was size 14.) When I jumped off the boat, my boobs fell out of it. LOL. The leg holes ballooned out like a parachute. LOL. My DH said " honey, why don't you go buy a swimsuit that fits? "LOL. So, I took this as permission to buy me 2 new swimsuits. LOL.

Yup Nelie. That's what the expensive ones were - a Miracle suit.

The only problem with the Miracle suit was that it didn't do a thing for my problem area - MY LEGS. I would need total and complete coverage for that. I have really, really bad varicose veins. They've gotten worse since the weightloss, because now they are so much more prominent.

My torso, waist, stomach, butt and hips are just fine in a bathing suit. So, for me it wasn't worth spending the extra money. The regular priced suits were just as flattering.

I'm still wearing track pants from 116 pounds ago and I've recently started going to the gym. They're pretty baggy and the fabric keeps getting caught on things that stick out of the equipment as I'm coming up to/leaving equipment. Yesterday, I got yanked back to an exercise bike when it caught some fabric at the hip, but not before some buff old guy got to see my red Christmas undies with the snowflakes and candycanes!
