Ate 2 cupcakes today....

Chocolate....my enemy. Been craving it like crazy all weekend, and finally gave in to 2 cupcakes. And I still wanted more....I guess the one positive thing is, I WOULD have ate as many as I wanted in the past, but so far have been able to stay at 2. I just feel so guility!!! I hope this doesn't ruin my progress so far!!! :o

Pink Hoodie,
2 cupcakes are not going to undo 23 pounds of weight loss. No way, no how. Just pick yourself up and keep on going. A misstep doesn't have to become an all out binge, it is what it is.

You're doing great, keep up the good work!

ThinGirl in FatBody 07-09-2007 12:12 AM

Yeah, I had an episode with a jar of salted cashews a couple of weeks ago, you just have to get yourself up, dust yourself off and start anew.

I remember how crappy I felt after eating them and learned my lesson.

zenor77 07-09-2007 01:16 AM

I had 1 1/2 cupcakes today (and a beer :o), so don't beat yourself up! Sometimes cravings get the best of us. I think the key is to not let it happen on a regular basis.

Cokia 07-09-2007 01:34 AM

I ate 3/4's of a burrito today when I shouldn't have had it at all. (It was practically the size of a football). So I totally understand.

It's ok Pink. We all do it. Last week was not a good one for me. *grumbles about holidays, hamburgers, and lack of self-control* Just keep in mind that you CAN have yummies once in awhile. Otherwise, your cravings will get the better of you and you'll be off on a binge that can go on and on and on. You have to let yourself satisfy those cravings (just a little bit!) before they all gang up and knock you down.

The downward trend is what counts...minor bumps are ok!

 to you

These things are going to happen from time to time. We simply CAN NOT be perfect 100% of the time. I look at it as "part" of the plan in fact.

You just can't let it derail you though. You MUST get right back on that wagon. What's done is done. You can't let 2 lousy cupcakes set you into a tailspin. Those 2 cupcakes every every once in a while is not what gets us fat, it's the daily overeating. Once in a while = fine. Everyday = not so fine.

Loch 07-09-2007 05:58 AM

As long as this doesn't happen all the time, don't fret.

Also, back when I was exercizing and I lost 20lbs, if I had something bad, I would do some extra exercize to work off those calories.

TurboLeda 07-09-2007 07:45 AM

pink, it's okay!!! sometimes eating the things we crave is good for us----and you ate only 2 instead of 15 (like I probably would) haha!
just try to remember: ONE snack, ONE meal, or even ONE DAY of "wrong" eating will not make you fat, just like you didn't SUDDENLY get fat one day. just dust yourself off and start anew the next morning. :)

Pita09 07-09-2007 07:58 AM

Good advice to forgive yourself and begin again. I hadn't drank anything more than a couple of drinks at a time in almost a year. Then on the 4th of July I thought it would be a good idea to drink two bottles of champagne that we had leftover from a party and eat half a bag of potato chips and two bowls of popcorn. Took me two days to recover. :o

traci in training 07-09-2007 08:54 AM

I think it's normal to eat the bad stuff sometimes. If for no other reason, than to prove to yourself that it's not going to kill you. And nothing is more desirable than something that is forbidden, right?

Loch 07-09-2007 09:57 AM

What I plan on doing is giving myself rewards, not sure if it should be weekly, monthly, or for every 5lbs lost. Like traci said, it's good to eat the bad stuff once in a while. They should be treats and rewards.

Man...I want a cup cake now lol, I haven't had one in ages.

rockinrobin 07-09-2007 10:04 AM

I don't know Loch. I actually think the very best reward and treat we can give ourselves is eating healthy and exercising. If it's a reward or a treat I'm looking for, I don't make it food oriented.

"Treating" myself with food plays bad, bad, very BAD head games with myself.

Minty Fresh 07-09-2007 11:13 AM

Pink, it's okay!!

You know, I've decided that this time around, it is a lifestyle change. And you know, sometimes your lifestyle has to have a cupcake or two in them once every great while :)

This weekend, we went out for dinner at my favorite Mexican place and I had crispy tacos. I ended up 500 calories over my daily goal, but you know what I look at it is that I've changed my lifestyle for 4 weeks already and have done really well. It is okay to treat ourselves once in a great while (obviously not every day or even every week), but you have to live a little otherwise you will not be able to stay motivated.

Hang in there. You are doing great so far!

traci in training 07-09-2007 11:49 AM

I don't mean I reward myself with bad food - I'm just saying eating bad food happens and getting all down on yourself for a couple of cupcakes just gives the food more power and you less power. I know there is no way I'm going to go for a whole week without eating a cookie or an ice cream cone or something. It's just not my life. I enjoy food and I'm not going to deprive myself of anything. BUT...I now eat one cookie, not a row of oreos. Or have a baby cone instead of a medium. Or eat homemade ice cream on the 4th of July, but only a small dish. For me it's all about making the right choice. And controlling the number of "bad" choices I make. I think sometimes we try so hard to be perfect we don't give ourselves credit for everything we do right, you know what I mean? Last week I lost three pounds and I ate well 90% of the time. I can live with 90%.
