I can relate to you also. I feel so good about myself for losing weight--and then I see myself in pictures and I get depressed too. I just want everyone to see that I have done well and am normal--not just a fat person. It is taking forever but I WILL get there. And so will you.

AAAAWWW!!
that sucks...I know exactly how that feels.....and IT SUCKS!!! but it's over now...and there is nothing to be done about the past.... compare these pics to your heavier ones....and remember that even though you are not happy about your appearance now...it is better than it WAS....and will get better and better as you continue to work toward your goal!! |
Everyone has said such great things, which felt really inspirational to me as well. I looked in a full-length mirror for the first time in a long time yesterday - and couldn't believe that it was me AFTER losing some weight! One thing I do when I get discouraged is remember that it's about more than appearance. Every day on my program makes me feel better about myself. I feed my kids much more nourishing and wholesome things than before. I am so much more alive and willing to play than before. I would like to believe that I would continue to do it even if I never lost another pound (though I am not sure how convincing I am when I tell myself that). So, I try to focus on the positive when I'm discouraged - though I also had an Oreo and double cheeseburger day last week.

Hugs to you Beth
I could have written what you wrote. I'll be feeling pretty good about how I look and then I see the photos. Sometimes it looks like I must be a different species because I'm so much bigger than the folks around me. I still hide behind the camera and volunteer to take all the pictures so I don't have to be in them. After reading all the comments, I think I need to creep in front of the camera for at least a "before" shot so I can see the difference once I lose some weight. Hang in there Beth. |
Thank you all, again for being so supportive!! I'm past the negative vibes today - and I know its due to all the positive messages I received!!
Success is in the moving forward!!! |
Jolly Molly...yes...absolutely you need to step in front of the camera and get yourself a before picture. They really do come in handy when you are losing weight. We are our worst critics and it is so hard to see the changes because we see our selves every day. But if you can put a face before pic up and a lost 20 pounds face pic up....you can see a difference. Same for a full body. Get a digital camera and set it up on a dresser and set the self timer and print it out on your own so no one else has to see if it you don't want them too. I keep a 2 peice bikini pic in a hardback notebook that I record all my weight changes and measurements in every week or two. I will take another bikini pic when I hit about another 15 or 20 pounds lighter than i believe it was 165 when i took the pic.
Everyone just remember that this is a long process but if we keep striving, we will make it. It takes hard work and determination. (ps. I know I don't have 100 pounds to lose, but i hope ya'll don't mind that i posted here. I just saw the post and wanted to offer some encouragement. I have/had about 65 to 75 pounds to lose, so that was close to the 100 mark. Like I said, I hope ya'll don't mind my posting in this thread!!):^: |
