Exercise before or after eating supper? Help
Are you supposed to exercise before you eat your supper or after? I heard somewhere that if you ate, then exercised, you wouldn't lose fat. or the other way around, I don't know.............Help!:?:

I guess if you exercise directly after dinner, you may be using the calories from the food you just consumed. But, really when you think about it, what's wrong with that? That way when your body needs calories for other things, it will use your fat, maybe? There are a lot of ladies on here who have a good understand of how all our inner processes work and I'm sure they'll chime in.
To be honest though, I think the most important thing is to exercise, so whether you're more comfortable doing it before dinner, or after dinner (or whenever you have time!) the focus is to make sure you're actually doing it. |
I've read a lot about this (don't know why given how lazy I am) and I've read an article supporting every single different minute of the day as to which precise minutes are best. The conclusion I reached is that if the so called experts can't agree I'm not going to worry about it. I honestly can't see how it matters in the long run.

don't care what the experts say. I can't fit dinner in before my workout.
I have a good protein and fat snack before I work out then I have dinner and sometimes I eat LATE. it really doesn't matter AFAIK when you eat.. what matters is what you eat and how much of it. |
I've been trying to exercise before and after dinner :) Anyway, I think the best way that works for you is the way you should do it. It doesn't really matter either way.

I agree. I don't think it matter as much as WHEN you exercise. It matters THAT you exercise. :)

Morning walks for me

Personally it depends on how I feel. If I can plan ahead, I'll eat a yogurt around 4pm, then exercise after I leave work at 5. If I am feeling sluggish or just plain hungry, I'll eat dinner and wait about an hour before I exercise. Listen to your body and do what works best for you. Just doing the exercise is a plus!
