diet coke plus

Have any of you tired this?

I got a "sample" size bottle today at the pig. It tastes like diet coke. Yes, I now water is better for me - and I do drink it. I do, however, have a diet soda daily.

Here is some info:

http://money.cnn.com/2006/12/08/news...coke/index.htm

My bottle was 12 oz and has 25% niacin, 25% vit b6, 25% vit b12, 15% magnesium, and 15% zinc.

I do take a multi-vitamin too.

I guess if I'm going to have a diet soda... why not have one that could be good for me too?

Weird... I've never even heard of this. It's kinda neat though, since pop zaps all those things from your bones to begin with. I wonder if the benefits are legit or insignificant?

CyberGypsy 04-19-2007 10:20 PM

yes coming out this summer....yea

Dawn2Dusk 04-19-2007 10:21 PM

They should add calcium to it, to cancel out some of the effects of the phosphoric acid. :p

tigrre 04-19-2007 10:32 PM

Weird, I just noticed the product today too...

IMO, they can never make diet soda healthy, but they can probably make it healthier

Dawn2Dusk 04-19-2007 10:48 PM

I wonder if it's possible to make soda without the phosphoric acid.

LindseyLouWho 04-20-2007 12:43 AM

I'm pretty sure that adding calcium to diet coke, containing phosphoric acid, would result in the production of the salt calcium phosphate, which in all likeliness would be an undesired result. Oh well, would be nice if we DIDN'T have to have our bones eaten away by drinking a diet coke. The phosphoric acid is there to produce a "tangy" flavor. However, many non cola sodas don't have it.

I may be getting my chemistry facts mixed up though, but that's the first thing I thought when I read that.

onmyown 04-20-2007 01:32 AM

I hate to burst anyones bubble. But I LOVE Diet Coke and prediet was drinking a lot of it. Now I try to keep it at one...but need to cut it out completely. Diet Coke and the Diet Coke plus contain Aspertaine and (i'm spelling it wrong) is recognized by your body the same as sugar which causes your insulin to spike...just like sugar. It can keep you from losing well. So says the Dr. I recently saw. ;P

CyberGypsy 04-20-2007 08:20 AM

everyone need a coke every once in a while i get the real stuff if i crave one,,,, but water is what i have been drinking,,,

GirlyGirlSebas 04-20-2007 08:36 AM

Sometimes, I'd just like to drink something other than water! Thank God for diet soda! I especilly love Diet Barq's rootbeer, but I'll give this Diet Coke Plus a try.....why not include something healthy with my daily soda fix!:)

sharonrr 04-20-2007 09:20 AM

I used to drink diet soda. I didn't know why I had headaches alot. I cut it out completely in January. No more headaches.
WATER RULES:carrot:

Mrs Quadcrew 04-20-2007 09:27 AM

I am with Sharon. I literally haven't had one since Dec. 28th. Do NOT miss it at all. A big glass of water with lemon does the job for me now! (and I know that is one of the reasons why everything "clicked" this time.....cutting the junk out)

But - having said that, for those who have to have it, at least they're trying to make it not so bad for you.

nelie 04-20-2007 09:28 AM

I have to say I used to be a regular coke addict, then I switched to diet sodas. I haven't had a soda in a year? I have no clue. I am happy to say that my life is much better without having to pay for overpriced, oversweetened, fizzy water.

I wish I could... I've tried.. I will have to try again. I can go one day.. then the next I have terrible headaches. I can go as far as one every other day.

There was a time I would drink up to 5 regular cokes a day! I love Dr Pepper - it's like crack for me!! :o

Sharon .. where do you live? my inlaws are in central WI - close to it.. in a nothing town... outside of Neillsville.

Penney 04-20-2007 12:18 PM

I used to drink a LOT of soda - I have been baby stepping the elimination of it - I drink diet soda now and I am just at a few a week now - that really is a huge step for me. Between the coffee and the soda - I used to live on caffiene.

Charbar - the headaches may be from the caffiene withdrawal.

But - I think I will give the diet coke plus a try........

Slashnl 04-20-2007 12:31 PM

I have never been able to drink diet sodas. I don't know what it is, but the mixture of chemicals makes me feel extremely light headed and dizzy. I drink black coffee everyday, so I don't have any trouble getting enough caffeine (ha!), and I used to drink more regular pop without this trouble. Now I try to stay away from it all.

I guess I'm just sensitive!!

mezmerize 04-20-2007 01:08 PM

I tried a sample lastnight...it's taste just like old school diet coke. A bit flat but drinkable.

Sandi 04-20-2007 01:30 PM

I drink alot of water, but i like my pop too. I normally keep to just 1 or 2 a day. I don't drink it for the caffeine, I am fine without that usually.

I gave up pop for lent last year. I missed and and don't think I felt better without it.

lewelaine 04-20-2007 10:45 PM

I doubt it will hit my shores but it's interesting no less.

Personally I only drink one diet coke per week, on friday night. The caffeine in them otherwise just set off insomnia for me which I can't deal with on a worknight.

Here we have something called "Pepsi Nex" which is like a diet lime pepsi which is interesting and usually on sale so sometimes I drink one of those on a saturday as well making me up to 2 diet soft drinks a week.

I get enough vitamins with my daily multivitamin regime so, on a sales standpoint, I wouldnt choose a vitamin fortified soda over a non unless the vitamin one was lower price and tasted the same.

CyberGypsy 04-21-2007 09:43 AM

After read found some samples at the store, not bad at all

LisaMarie71 04-21-2007 01:43 PM

I used to struggle and struggle to give up diet soda, thinking I absolutely HAD to in order to be healthy. Well, I gave up that struggle and I drink Diet Mountain Dew whenever I feel like it. I switch to caffeine-free at night, but I do drink it, and probably a lot more than I should. Oh well. I'm not obese anymore, and part of that is because of how many calories I've cut by switching to diet drinks, so I'd rather be at a healthy weight with some unhealthy aspartame in my system. I still drink tons of water, so it's not as though I'm choosing the diet soda OVER water. I just like diet soda with my meals and some of my snacks.

As far as the diet soda thing goes, I feel the same as I do about people telling me I should cut ANYthing out. I'm an intelligent person who can read all the studies and make the choice to have it or not have it, and if I've cut my calories to the point where I've lost 83 pounds and I can run six miles at a time without stopping, I'd say I'm a much healthier person, Diet Mountain Dew or not.

HarpoChicoGroucho 04-22-2007 02:11 AM

I'm drinking one right now!!! I was grocery shopping today and saw them (they're already selling them here at HyVee) so I decided to buy them. I'm not a big diet Coke fan (I'm a Coke Zero junkie) but it seems to me they taste better then regular diet Coke (which I've never been too fond of). The can is really pretty too -- very colorful!

But after I drink the 4 cases of diet pop I bought today, I too am breaking free the grips of being a diet pop junkie. Anyone know of a 12 step program? I kind of realized after I had spent nearly $20 on pop for the next two weeks, that I could save $40 a month not drinking them, and I can buy a new pair of shoes every month :carrot:

RememberHowToSmile 04-22-2007 12:12 PM

I just purchased a 12 pack of it to try. I haven't had it yet but I hope it's good!

I've given up soda twice in my life. Once was to detox off of sugar filled coke. I stopped cold turkey and drank only water for 3 months. After that I started drinking diet sodas and such.

More recently (past couple years), I wanted to rid myself of most artificial and natural (added) sweeteners. So I was drinking 1 20 oz soda from work per day. Each one cost $1.10. Then I figured I'd save money and wean myself off.

I still drink massive amounts of iced tea (caffeinated and herbal), some water and if I'm in the mood for something fizzy, I buy some club soda and mix it with cranberry juice (100% pure) or lemon juice.

I think if people want to drink soda that is fine, but for me I feel so much better not drinking it.

mandy27613 04-22-2007 12:50 PM

I love tea. I drink more tea than anything else. I saw the diet coke plus at the grocery store yesterday and my boyfriend tried it he said it was pretty good. It does have an aftertaste though.

Janny O 04-23-2007 09:58 AM

Just finished one-not too bad!

royalsfan1 04-23-2007 10:29 AM

Coke of any kind...diet or regular...is a trigger for me. I can't have any. I miss it.

greyhounds1977 04-24-2007 05:24 AM

hi diet coke plus

I picked up a bottle today and it tasted like the "real thing". I was impressed.
I drink a 12 pack a day of Diet Coke (plus gas station trips and out and about Cokes) or at least 2 - 2 liters a day at home and a few bottles from the gas station. Always have. I drink nothing else. No water, no milk....just diet coke.
So if we had a thread about quitting, I would definatly join.

Some people say they are addicted to soda and then follow that up with "I drink 3-4 cans a day." My thoughts are..."I WISH!" lol.

DixieAmazon 04-24-2007 06:20 AM

I found it had a weird aftertaste too, unlike 7Up Plus. I try to limit myself to one soda per day.

jillybean720 04-24-2007 06:30 AM

7Up Plus? Diet Coke Plus? Never heard of either of them :dizzy: It wouldn't sway my decision, though. I buy the diet sodas I like based on taste. I get my vitamins from whole foods and a daily multivitamin--sodas aren't MEANT to be nutritious :p

I guess the concept to me is sort of like "enriched" white flour. Well, sure they have to "enrich" it...they took all the good stuff out of it to begin with!

As for phosphoric acid, only cola-type sodas (diet and/or regular) have that. I drink diet ginger ale--no phosphoric acid there.

Dawn2Dusk 04-24-2007 12:55 PM

I tried one for the first time at the grocery store. Couldn't tell the difference between that and the regular diet coke, really.

Oppurtunity 04-25-2007 02:14 AM

I tried one yesterday. I loooovvveedd it. Way better than normal Diet Coke and I even thought it tasted a whole lot like regular coke without the sugary cough syrup taste.

I am a diet soda junkie and I at times will drink an entire 2 liter in a matter of an hour or more. Believe me when I tell you I have a trail blazed in the floor to the bathroom. Anyway, I may as well switch to this! At least I'm getting vitamins and minerals as opposed to nothing.
