Breakfast 3/21

Post what you had for breakfast. Hopefully this will help us be more accountable and perhaps help others think of new foods to try.

I had 2 packages of grits with bacon, 1 apple, coffee with LF creamer and sweet n low.

I just drank a Slimfast Optima Cappucino Delight. At around 9:30 I will cook an egg with some vegetables. I have found that works really well for me. I don't like to eat real early but if I don't then I'm VERY hungry a little later and that sends me on a "raid"! Got to avoid those raids!!! I know a lot of people here cringe at the Slimfast....but for me it just keeps everything under control and starting the day under control keeps it all in control for me. And that's the point, right? Finding what works for each of us individually?

bizlawchik 03-21-2007 08:51 AM

Actually, I had a Slimfast Optima, a 1oz rf string cheese and an apple.

SexyRevealed 03-21-2007 09:47 AM

Tricia, I sometimes have a Slimfast Optima in the car on the way to work. Not the best thing, but they're cheap and it works!

Today I'm having 1.5 cups of Special K Protein Plus with 8 oz. skim milk and 1/8 cup of walnuts. I think it's about 370 calories. I eat a higher calorie breakfast because I usually don't have a mid morning snack (I prefer 2 afternoon snacks).

Royals, Thats right, finding what works for us individually. No 2 people are the same and one diet plan or lifestyle change isnt going to affect the next person the exact same way.

60 calorie ff yogurt and 1 cup of Kashi Go Lean crunch cereal.

See my fitday for more info.

cara1980 03-21-2007 10:03 AM

I was looking at fitday yesterday since so many people seem to have it, but I fidn the task too daunting to search and enter in all my information. I mix alot of things together so I couldnt possibly figure out how much it is exactly.

bizlawchik 03-21-2007 10:11 AM

Cara - The first few times are time consuming, but you will find that we are creatures of habit. So once you take the time to add some of the things to the "custom foods" category it goes much quicker.

rockinrobin 03-21-2007 10:26 AM

As far as Fitday goes, I pretty much have my days down pat. I've figured it out the once and I know just how much each meal "costs" and snacks as well. So I don't even bother with Fitday anymore. Unless of course I'm eating a new food.

My breakfast has been the same for about 2 months now. Maybe longer. I see no need to change it for now as it tastes yummy to me, is healthy since it's filled with fiber and protein other vitamins and keeps me satisfied. - 1/2 cup Fiber One Cereal, mixed with 1/2 cup Kashi Go Lean cereal and 1/2 cup skim milk.

My breakfast today is a regular for me....

1 cup steel oats with pinch of stevia, 5 strawberries, 6 walnut halves, 3/4 c
skim plus milk divided among my oats and 2 cups coffee. Keeps me satisfied all morning.

What are steel oats and stevia? I have never heard of it.

Mrs Quadcrew 03-21-2007 02:02 PM

1/2 cup steel cut oats, 1/2 cup blackberries, 1/8 t. cinnamon and 1/4 teaspoon agave nectar for sweetness, 2 cups of black coffee ~ I have the same thing everyday!

cara - steel cut oats are oats that are only cut, not processed and rolled like the oatmeal you think of! It is chewier and is much better tasting, IMO. Stevia and Agave Nectar are natural sweetners. I don't use Stevia (it has a licorice taste to me) but Agave nectar is almost like honey - it has a very low glycemic number so it is even great for those who are diabetic to use.

Would they be in a typical grocery store or a specialty store? IM interested in trying them.

Sheila53 03-21-2007 03:43 PM

Pre-workout meal was an egg white stuffed with hummus. Post-workout was 1/2 c ff cottage cheese, 1 c blueberries, .5 oz. chopped walnuts.

LakeGirl 03-21-2007 05:00 PM

I've been pretty much the same lately: two packs of the low sugar instant oatmeal and a pack of splenda, because I have such a sweet tooth. It's yummy!
